September 12, 2001-11 -0rresp0ndents Seaforth wins B final in K of C soccer • Don and Irene Kelly have returned from a one-week holiday to Branson, Missouri, where they enjoyed lots of great country music and beautiful scenery. Jerry and Marie Eckert of Owen Sound, visited with Sister Margaret Rose Eckert and all the family members on the occasion of her 60th anniversary as an Ursuline Sister. Sister Mary Eckert from "The Pines" in Chatham was unable to attend. The St. Columban men's soccer team won over the London German Canadians by a forfeit when the London St. Columban team failed to show this past week. However, the St. Columban soccer held was used to capacity this past Sunday as eight area teams participated in the annual Knights of Columbus co-ed soccer tournament. High school students formed teams representing Clinton, Seaforth, Dublin, Mitchell, Kinkora, By Mary C. Friday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. a smoked pork chop and scalloped potato barbecue is being held for $3.50 per plate. Jackie Racho presided in the absence of Pat Rodney. Minutes of the June meeting were read by Bea Stoll. Roll call was answered by 28 members and one visitor. The treasurer's report was given by Dilys of the Fall Fair and also the children's section. It was moved by Corry Klaver and seconded by Mary McLeod that $25 be given to Ciderfest. Nancy Kale has already given a gift for the penny sale at the fair. Nancy Kale reported on the Home and Garden Tour. Seaforth won out over St. Marys 1-0 after an exciting overtime period and double shoot-outs to take the "B" final. The students at St. Columban School participated in a joint school celebration of mass along with the students of St. Patrick School in Dublin. Father Moe Charbonneau presided. Student elections were held this past week. Jenilee Ryan was elected president; Kyle Annis as vice president; William Sweet as treasurer; and Michelle Van Loon as secretary. The students are now busy practicing for the upcoming cross country and soccer meets.
