Terry Fox Run is on Sunday
The annual Terry Fox Run will be
held on Sunday, Sept. 16. •
Seaforth's run will begin at the
Seaforth and District Community
Centres and the site will be open
between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.. All
participants are asked to register and
begin the event before 1:30 pm.
Last year Seaforth and area residents raised
over $5,200 which was our best year to date
since 1982.
All proceeds from the Terry Fox Run will
go towards cancer research and to date close
to $300 million has been raised worldwide.
Pledge sheets will be available throughout
town. Pick one up, collect some pledges and
we will see you on Sept. 16.
Fitness is Fun
Fitness is Fun with Drusilla Leitch will be
held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9
to 10 a.m. beginning Sept. 11. Come enjoy
this 10 -week program for only $40 for once
per week or $70 for twice a week. Drusilla
will give you a great workout using weights
and steps.

Senior Shuffleboard
Senior Shuffleboard continues at the
Seaforth and District Community Centres
every Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 to 4
p.m. Last week's winners were:
Ladies: Helen Scott - 317, Velma
Preszcator - 294 and Ann Van Dooren - 284,
Men: Hank Dorssers - 404, Art Scott - 399
and Ken Preszcator - 323.
Dog Obedience Program
The Huron East recreation department's
dog obedience program with Anita Hansen
will begin in late September.
•Once again a beginner course will be
offered from 7-8 p.m. and an agility class
from 8-9 p.m. Classes will begin at the
Seaforth and District Community Centres on
Tuesday, Sept. 25 and in Brussels on
Thursday, Sept. 27.
The Brussels class will be beginners only
from 7-8 p.m. For registration or information
please call the Huron East recreation
department at 527-1272 or the Brussels arena
at 887-6621.

Legion tournament Sept. 2
has good attendance
Seaforth's
annual Legion
sponsored
tournament was
Seaforth Lawnbowling Club
held Sunday, Sept. 2 with a
good entry present.
First place went to Brad
Fleming and Bev Fritz of
Chesley.
In second place was St.
Marys team of Bill and
Abby Graham with three
wins.
Also with three wins were
Kevin and Janet Rumig of
Goderich.
High two -game winners
were Moe Cosyn and Carol
Fuller of Woodstock and the
consolation prize went to
Roy and Jean Pyper of
Kitchener.
Last Tuesday evening saw
30 present at the monthly
pot luck supper with euchre
and bowling after.
Hostesses were Isabelle
Hunt and Alice Reid.
Euchre winners were white
cards, high, Jean Keyes,
lone hands, Edna Mitchell
and consolation, Marjorie
Rock. Yellow tickets, high,
Bob McMillan, lone hands,
Helen McKenzie, and
consolation Isabelle Hunt.
The next social will be
Sept. 25 'at 6 p.m. and

Labour Day is now past and
our Friday summer barbecues
have given way to Wednesday
moming breakfast group when
residents assist with planning
the menu and a small group
participates, family style.
We've made good use of our
patio this summer and the deck
area has served as the stage for
many excellent music groups.
The past week was an
exceptionally busy one with a
surveyor here from the
Canadian Accreditation
Council. This is a voluntary
procedure we go through to
demonstrate that we not only
meet standards but exceed
them.
Shirley Luther led the
worship service Tuesday
afternoon with Belva Fuss as
volunteer pianist.
Breakfast group took place
Wednesday morning with
residents enjoying honeydew
melon and cantaloupe as well
as pancakes with syrup and
raisin toast, followed by lots of
coffee, tea and juice.
The Nashville Rejects gave
a great afternoon of musical
entertainment Thursday with
everyone enjoying their many
favourites.
Sunday .afternoon, the
Fellowship Singers provided a
musical worship service for
residents based on the 23rd
Pslam.
hosting will be Jack and
Marie Muir.
Friday evening saw 32
bowlers out for a mixed
jitney social evening with
Clinton lawn bowlers as
guests.
High for the evening was
Jack Muir with Dorothy
Smythe of Clinton.
Everyone received a prize
and teams were drawn at
random.
Cake and ice cream were
served for lunch, courtesy of
Donna and Neil Beuerman
and Dawn Robertson gave
courtesy remarks on behalf
of the Clinton Club for a
great evening.
Seaforth bowlers have
been active in out of town
tournaments.
Fred Tilley and Kevin
Rumig were first in optional
pairs at the B.M.I. Internet
tournament in
Southhampton. Jack and
Marie Muir placed third in
the same tournament.
At Hanover mens triples
Lee Ryan, Tom Phillips and
Dennis Schmidt were third
while Fred Tijley, Erich
Matzold and Neil Beuerman
were two -game winners.
At Lucknow Sept. 3 in
their men's tournament Lee
Ryan and Brett Finlayson
were three -game winners
and second prize, Jack Muir
and Lloyd Eisler were
fourth, Fred Tilley and Erich
Matzold and Neil
Beuerman and Dennis
Schmidt were
two -game
winners.
Bowling in
Clinton the same day in
ladies trebles were Shirley
Schmidt, Donna Beuerman
and Marie Muir winning
sixth.
At Mitchell in the
Parmalat Foods Tournament
Brett and Mary Finlayson
were third.
Sept. 6, Jack and Marie
Muir placed first in Brussels
and on Friday Carol Carter
and Pat Standeaven of
Woodstock won second in
ladies pairs.
Friday evenieg at 7:30
p.m. there will be a meeting
of lawn bowling members at
the club house.
Sunday will be the annual
turkey tournament at the
Seaforth greens, the last
mixed tournament here for
the season.
