Lawn bowlers host July social
The Seaforth
Lawn Bowling
Club held their
Lawn bowling
July Social and
potluck supper last Tuesday evening with
thirty members and associates present.
Hostesses for the evening were Betty Hulley
and Bessie Boyd. Following supper four
tables of euchre were in play while three
greens were engaged in lawn bowling.
Euchre winners were 1st: Mary McCall and
Edith McMillan. Lone hands: Bessie Boyd
and Betty Hulley. Consolation: Bob Argyle
and Mary McClure. It was nice to see Sam
McClure out after his stay in hospital and
nursing home. Lawn bowling winners were:
Edna Bell and Mattie Murray and and for the
men: Erich Matzold and Jim Stotts. The next
social will be August 28 and hostesses will
be Isabelle Hunt, Alice Reid and Grace
Broadfoot.
Thursday, July 26 saw seven greens in
play for the Edna and Cliff Waddington
sponsored ladies pairs tournament. First
place went to Mary Finlayson and. Edna
Waddington.
Second, Eileen
Adamson and
Joyce Matzold
also of Seaforth. Third, Mickey Kindersma
and Grace Cook from Stratford. Fourth, Nell
Thompson and Jean Shillington, Clinton.
Fifth, Ursel Bucholtz and Audrey
Dunscombe, London Elmwood Club.
Consolation, Grace Martin and Eileen
Crowe, London Thistle Club.
In out of town tournaments Neil and
Donna Beuerman placed first at the Legion
#309 Lucknow tournament. On Saturday,
July 28 Jack and Marie Muir and Jim Stotts
took second prize at the Clinton Community
Credit Union tournament in Exeter.
Several teams from Seaforth competed at
St. Marys on Sunday in their annual
tournament. Fred and Betty Tilley placed
second in the double draw and Neil and
Donna Beuerman also competed.
Members wish Thelma Coombs a speedy
recovery from her recent stay in hospital.

Hockey school approaching
The Annual Dave
McLlwain Hockey School
will be held at the Seaforth
and District Community
Centres from Aug. 12
through to Aug. 24.
Included with the school is
the annual Summer
Showcase hockey
game featuring
the Hockey
School instructors
as well as area professional
and junior hockey players.
The hockey game will be
held on Aug. 16, beginning
at 7:30 p.m. at the Seaforth
and District Community
Centres.
Proceeds from the game
will go towards Seaforth and
District Minor Hockey.

22 at the Kippen Gun Club with 22 shooters on hand.

Handicap Brad Mann 88; Hi Overall Art Fisher 192.

Family celebrates couple's 5oth anniversary
The family of Ben
and Theresa Nyland
of Dublin, had a
Mass of
Thanksgiving for
their parents at St.
Patrick's Church on
July 28 on the
occasion of their
50th anniversary.
Their son, Father
Martin Nyland, co -
celebrated the Mass
with his priest -
friend, Father Dennis
Howard, and Father Tom
Janisse (formerly a Dublin
Pastor) who was welcomed
by former parishioners.
The homily was given by
Father Howard, who began
with a beautiful picture of
the Sacred Heart. He
reminded us that Ben and
Theresa were "Living
Images of the Faith" and •
passed it on to us.
At the end of Mass, Father
Martin presented to his
parents a beautiful plaque.
Following the Mass, there
was a wonderful open house
in the Parish Hall. This
occasion was enjoyed by a
huge crowd of relatives,

Another "Family Day" is
being organized for
Bingeman's Park in
Kitchener. It will be on Aug.
23. Included in a day of fun
are the water slides, kiddy
play area, bumper boats and
wave pool. Everyone is
invited to bring a picnic
lunch and come along.

the car and join us at
Canada's Wonderland on
Monday, Aug. 27. For

this year. Mass will be
