God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So he closed his arms around you, And whispered "Come to Me." A golden heart stopped beating, Your gentle hands at rest. PRICE: In loving memory of Ann, who passed away one year ago, July 22, 2000. This day is remembered and quietly kept, No words are needed we will never forget. For deep in our hearts you will always stay. Remembered each and every day. - Lovingly remembered by Myles, Brian and Keith 46-29-1 VAN DYK: In loving memory of Margaret Van Dyk, a great mother and Grandma who passed away one year ago on July 23, 2000. In tears we watched you sinking, We watched you fade away. Our hearts were almost broken. You fought so hard to stay. But when we saw you sleeping, So peacefully from pain. We could not wish you back, To suffer that again. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He closed His arms around you. And whispered "Come to Me." You did not deserve what you went through, And so He gave you rest, God's garden must be beautiful, For He only takes the best. It broke my heart to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of me went with you, To God's garden, your new home. Also, Theodore Van Dyk (our Dad and Grandpa) who was truly some- one special who passed away 22 years ago on February 16, 1979. - Always remembered with love and sadly missed by Mary and Danny, Marg, Connie and Mike, Ken and Margie Ed, ,Ted and Leanne, Wilma and Rich, Rosie and Mike, Linda and Andrew, Steve and Jessica and their families. 46-29x1 LEEMING, Cecilia: In loving memo- ry of a dear mother, mother-in-law and grandmother who passed away 4 years ago, July 22, 1997 Though her smile is gone forever and her hand we cannot touch, Still we have the memory of the one we loved so much. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name, But all we have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your resting place we visit and put flowers with care, But no one knows the heartache as we turn and leave you there. Life must go on, we know it's true, But its not the same since we lost you. - Sadly missed and forever in our thoughts. - Dan, Pete, Terri, Nicholas, Jacob, Cathy, Brad, Aaron and Tyler. 46-29x1 God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, Our hearts were almost broken, You fought so hard to stay, But when we saw you sleeping, Peacefully and free from pain, We could not wish you back, To suffer that again. So keep your arms around her Lord, And give her special care, Make up for all she suffered, That seemed to us so unfair. So many times we needed you, So many times we cried, If love could have saved you, You never would have died. - Lovingly remembered and missed every day by Marg, Jason, Kyle, Brad, Michelle, James and Alexis 46-29x1 47. In January, the program received an additional $126,157 from the Ministry of Health and Long -Term Care to further improve speech and language services for preschool children and assist with their transition into school. The funding was part of a province -wide $6 million enhancement for Preschool Speech and Language Initiatives. "A large portion of the money received by smallTALK was used to purchase therapy tools for Speech Language Pathologists, as well as resources for parents throughout Huron and Perth counties," said Mary Louise LaBerge, coordinator of smaIITALK. "We are also in the process of hiring more service providers to enhance the speech and language services for children from the time they turn five until they are eligible to begin senior kindergarten", she added. smaIITALK plans to distribute children's books to doctors offices and other community agencies as well as fact sheets on a variety of topics related to speech and language development. The books are intended for use by parents and children in waiting room areas. "One of the goals of the initiative is to educate the public about the important role parents have in promoting their child's speech and language development through reading," states Heather Kane, Public Health Nurse working with the Initiative. "The waiting room provides a great opportunity for parents to read to their child while they wait," she added. Reading together is an important step toward a child learning to talk and read on their own, she explains. It helps develop concentration and attention while giving a good example of correct language. Reading to a child in infancy promotes early literacy development and she emphasizes that it is never to early to begin reading to your child. smaIITALK focuses on prevention, finding children with speech and language problems early and broadening the methods of treatment provided by Speech Language Pathologists. One in ten preschool children has a speech and language problem. Parents should trust their instincts and call smallTALK if they are concerned about the way their child's speech and language skills are developing. Don't wait, early help makes a difference! For more information or to refer a child to a Speech Language Pathologist, call 273-2222 or 1-800-269-3683 and ask for smallTALK. Visit our web site at www, smalltalkir>wfo.ea •
