County hiring ambulance manager
By Sarah Caldwell
Goderich Signal -Star Staff
The county will be hiring
a manager of ambulance
operations, to look after
the day-to-day operation of
ambulance services for the
county.
County council voted to
hire the manager, after Jon
Hambides, Pomax Inc., the
county's consultant on
ambulance issues presented
a report
recommending the county
hire a manager.
Since taking over the
ambulance service from the
province, as of Jan. 1, the
service ,has been
administered by a team
made up of the county's
clerk -administrator,
director of planning,
county engineer, a county
planner and a consultant.
The system is evolving
where more of the focus
for ambulance
administration rests with
the county engineer.
Specific content
knowledge about the
operation and
administration of
ambulance services has
been available by
Hambides.
"The county should
continue to nurture the
existing organization, but
at the same time move
forwards to hire a manager
of ambulance operations,"
said Hambides in his
report.
In Huron County it
would be reasonable for
ambulance services

Turnout was disappointing
at meeting to save Hensall Fair
Nineteen people attended Monday night's
meeting to save the Hensall Spring Fair, but
only one of them was a potential new
volunteer.
"We had a disappointing show of interest
from the public," said secretary Anne
Mousseau Tuesday morning.
But directors didn't make an official
decision on the state of the fair, they'll wait
until Aug. 20 when they've planned another
meeting at 8 p.m. at the Hensall Community
Centre.
Mousseau said interested persons could
telephone board members, adding all they
need are people to sit on committees to help
plan events like the school arts and crafts
competition.
Tug of War event organizers Erich Freiter
and Matt Metzger also attended, saying they
are pleased with the growth of their event at
the fair.
