Seaforth Manor Nursing Home on
Thursday, May 31, 2001, Mary
Veronica Nolan, in her 97th year.
Beloved wife of the late James J.
Nolan (1988). Dear mother of Don
and Pat Nolan of Walton, Barry and
Lorraine Nolan of Dorchester,
Rebecca and David Young and
Marie Nolan and Nick Hussar, all of
London. Fondly remembered by 10
grandchildren and 2 great grandchil-
dren. Also survived by her sister,
Stasia Brohman of Fergus.
Predeceased by her husband
James, parents, Daniel and
Anastasia (McCue) Quirk, brother
Peter Quirk and sisters, Anne Quirk
and Margaret Coulson. Family
received friends at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth, on
Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass
of the Christian Burial was held on
Monday, June 4 at St. James Roman
Catholic Church, Seaforth, at 10:30

HOPPER, Durl Vannorman: age
64, of R.R. 7, St. Marys died sud-
denly at St. Marys on Friday, June
01, 2001. Born in Seaforth, he was
the son of the late William D. Hopper
and the former Edna M. McNeil. He
lived in Harpurhey until moving to
R.R. 1#7, St. Marys In 1990. He
owned and operated Dud Hopper
Ltd. under W.D. Hopper and Sons
Well Drilling from 1960 until the time
of his death. Beloved husband of
Nettie May Simons whom he mar-
ried November 2, 1963 in Clinton.
Loving father of Shawn Hopper and
his wife Linsey and their son Ethan,
R.R. 17, St. Marys and Melissa
Hopper and Sirnon Hopper, both at
home. Brother of Neil Hopper and
wife Blanche, R.R. 02, Seaforth,

ROCK: Laura: 84, a resident of the
Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell passed
away at her residence on Monday,
May 28, 2001. Bom in McKillop
Township on December 22, 1916,
she was the former Laura Frieda
Bennewies. On June 9, 1936, she
was married to George A. Rock who
predeceased her on December 27,
1992. Following their marriage, the
couple farmed in McKillop Township
until their retirement to Mitchell in
1974. She was a member of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church, Brodhagen
and a Honorary member of the
Ladies Aid of the church. Beloved
wife of the late George August Rock
(1992). Dear mother of Earl Rock
and his wife Doris of Seaforth and
Warren Rock and his wife Jo -Ann of
Mitchell. Loving grandmother of
Michael Rock of Mitchell. Dear sister
of Reta Davis and her husband
David of Mitchell. Dear sister-in-law
of Elsie Bennewies of Kitchener.

Urlin could
be appointed
to AMO's
board
of directors

If Huron County Council
approves on Thursday, Dave
Urlin of Exeter could be the
county's next representative
on the board of directors for
the Association of
Municipalities of Ontario
(AMO).
Currently deputy mayor for
the Municipality of South
Huron, that includes Exeter,
Urlin would become one of
five county caucus directors
to sit on the board for a one-
year term.
On Thursday, Urlin needs
approval from county council
to become its representative
plus approval to fund his
expenses for travel and time
away from his home
municipality.
"I'm looking forward to it.
I've got some good ideas," he
said on Monday.
Urlin's duties would include •
attending board, executive
and consultation meetings for
approximately 30 days of the
year including the annual'
AMO conference.
Nominations for 42
positions will be received
until July 31.
