that the o-.
faulting t'pwnships pay' their debts:
Warden Robertson pointed out 'that.
the twelve miles of road from Gode=
rich to Auburn' was not there solely
for the benefit' of Colbourn town
ship„and it was not fair to assess
that expenditure to that township,
while •Goderic h township was( for-
tunate enough to have some Provin-
cial Highway running ,through it,
which reduced the amount it had to
spend on 'roads.'
A •motion was made by, Messrs.
McEwen; and J. F. Johnston to reim-
burse those municipalities which
had paid their special"le-vies to the
extent of . half the amount paid. In
tamendment it was moved by Messrs.
McQuaid and Rlopp` that no special
levies be collected and no reimburse-
ments be made, and this was car-
ried. The' good roads system is now
put on the, basis of a county system
irrespectiveof: the mileage in any
particular townships, which is, of
course,, the system which was -•con-
templated by the Province in the
Good Roads plaza; and, as was point-
ed out, Huron is the ° only: county.
