Alf Ross speaks to Seaforth W.I.
Seaforth Women's Institute
Seaforth Women's Institute held their October 10 meeting at
the home of Helen MacKenzie.
Olive Papple opened the meeting with a poem. The
_Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Collect were repeated. Roll
'call was answered by seven members and seven guests.
Minutes of the September meeting were read by Betty Hulley.
The treasurer's report was given by Helen MacKenzie. The
meeting was then turned over to Helen MacKenzie. Helen
gave the motto, modern 23rd Psalm and reading Mother's
Promise.
The November meeting will be at Betty Hutley's.
Helen introduced the guest speaker All Ross. Alt gave us
some good points on our hospital, cotincillors and high school
and drew the ticket for the draw.
Lunch was served by the hostesses Marion Gordon and
Betty Hulley.
Residents bid farewell tq dog `Popcorn
Queensway Nursing Home
The Hensall United Church
Women provided assistance
and prizes Monday afternoon
for bingo with the residents.
We have appreciated their
help each Monday in October
.and look• forward to having
them hack in May.
The Bethel Reform Women
will be supplying assistance
and prizes for the month of
November.
Tuesday morning residents
held a farewell Halloween
party for "Popcorn" the St.
Johns Ambulance pct therapy
dog.
Popcorn and his owner
Paula Townsend of Bayfield
have been visiting
Queensway residents for the
past several months and will
be wintering in Florida.
Small gifts of appreciation
were presented to Popcorn
and Paula at the Farewell
Party.
An added treat for the
residents was a visit from
several small children
dressed in their Halloween
costumes. They were very
pleased to meet "Popcorn"
dressed in his Halloween
costume, a Santa suit.
Geri Fashions set up shop
at Queensway from 3 p.m. to
8 p.m. Wednesday and
residents and their families as
well as several visitors had •
an opportunity to purchase
their fall clothing.
Retirement Home -residents
were fortunate to have the
assistance of Auxiliary
Volunteer Edna Dietz who
helped with clothing and size
selections.
The Nashville Rejects
entertained an appreciative
audience Thursday afternoon
in the activity room.
A seldom heard crowd
pleaser was the song 'The
Grandfather Clock" to which
several residents sang along.
Clare Masse, Andy Rau.
and Bob Gilmore played to a
full house in the Retirement
home:lounge Friday evening.
It was almost standing room '
only. They played all the
favourites. plus many
requests and the hour of
music seemed to end all too
soon.
McKillop assault occurs
over damaged mailbox
A 58 -year-old McKillop.
Township man has been
charged with assault after an
altercation at a farmhouse
on Oct. 8 on Summerhill
Road in McKillop.
Huron OPP were
investigating an incident of
property damage. to a
'mailbox and had
interviewed the man earlier
that eveninil.
After the Officers left. he
went t� the location 4)1 the
property damage " and
assaulted the 'owl per. •
He is.schcduled to attend'
court in Goderich on Dec. 4.

The St Marys Children's Choir, winners of the CBC Amateur
• Children's Choir. Championship this year, gave a concert on
Sunday afternoon at Northside United Church in,Seaforth with
conductor Eileen Baldwin and accompanist Anne Marie Page.
' The choir has also come first several times in provincial and
