Centenaires win 9-8 against North Middlesex
It was a hack and forth
affair on Friday night that
kept the fans in their scats
right until the end as the
Cents pulled off a dramatic
comeback to win 9-8 against
North Middlesex.
The Cents fell behind 1-0
midway through the first but
consecutive goals by David
Ansley, Tim Sills and Scott
Henderson put the Cents in
the lead heading into the
second period.
Parkhill took advantage of
several defensive miscues by
the Centenaires and despite
second period goals by Jay
Baker and Henderson with
his second, the Cents trailed
by a goal facing the final 20
minutes.
North Middlesex was able
to build their lead to three
goals early in the third but it
was all Seaforth after that.
The turning point came at
9:18 of the period when Jeff
Arnold raced in on a loose
puck behind the Stars' net
and scored on the wrap
around. Three minutes later it
was Arnold again picking off
a pass in the Stars zone,. and
sneaking a shot info the net
from the slot.
"They (North Middlesex)
gave ine the puck on both
those goals." Arnold said
afterward smirking.
Matt Roberts also added a
goal before Tim McClure
poked a rebound past the
Stars goalie for what proved
to be the winner.
Kyle Kruse ended the night
with two assists.
Goalie Chuck Robertson.
not impressed with his
opening game, promised the
Cents they "would not need
to scare nine goals to win
every game" in future
contests.
"We only si bred 100 goals
all of last year. It's
encouraging to see that kind
of production. Especially
comingl from behind," said
coach Jason Papple.
Unfortunately. Saturday
night the Cents did need
another I nine -goal
peri-ormance but came up
short against the defending
Ontario champs from Port
Stanley.
The Cents knew they had
their hands full as Port
Stanley scored just 35
seconds in but hung on and
worked 1rard for the first 20
minutes starting the second
period two goals down.

Our new school year is
now underway and already
many events have
successfully happened.
First. we had our annual
Seaforth Fall Fair where the
school sponsored Amy
Gordon as a fall fair
ambassador contestant. She
finished second after reciting
a speech and an
improvisation exercise.
We also held our Grade 9
welcome day, getting
acquainted with our
newcomers and inviting
them to participate in
activities involving painting
with their noses. arm
wrestling in ketchup and
mustard. and fishing for
letters in "mud." They left
dirty, but amused.
The float, organized by the
student council of "The
Ambassadors of the
Century" was ready for the
parade but was cancelled
because of weather
conditions.
This didn't stop our group;
the student council and
selected home room
representatives went out
despite the rain and had a
blast.
Our graduating students
from last June are returning
this Friday to the
commencement held at the
high school. So far, the

start and we look forward to

both teams with chances on
net. It looked as though the
Cents would make a game of
it when Tim Sills scored
midway through the period
making the score 2-1.
Port Stanley added another
goal before rookie goalie
David Stonely went down
with a pulled groin. just as
the Lakers netted their fourth.

A dejected Centenaires
