A family barbecue was held last Thursday at the Seaforth Manor Nursing and Retirement
Home.
Holland visit includes bike tour
Tom and Lynn Burke have
returned from a three-week
visit to Holland. They were
joined there by Lynn's
parents, Roy and Ang Swart,
and her sister, Kim Swart, of
London. They visited with
Jan and Truus Keysper,
Roy's sister, where they
celebrated the Keysper's
40th wedding anniversary.
The Burkes also enjoyed a
biking tour where they
stayed in hostels. One of the
many highlights of the trip
was a visit to Westerbork, a
place in open fields in the,
middle of nowhere, which

Our residents enjoyed our
Peach Social this month with
fresh peaches andcake.
On Aug. 14. we were
kicking up our heels to the
great mucic of Kountry
Korners Band. We enjoyed
their music, dancing and their
laughter. We look forward to
having them back again on
Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.
Our monthly euchre party
'was held on Aug. 21.
We went on a picnic to
Exeter on Aug. 22. We had
chicken in the park at Exeter.
We didn't see any white
squirrels and got back just
before the rain and lightning
started.
Our sympathy is extended
to the families of Mary
McDougall and Dorothy
Munday.

McClinchey
celebrates
9oth birthday
A party was held by Agnes
McClinchey's family to
celebrate her 90th year on . ,
Aug. 9.
Agnes, a long-time resident
of Seaforth, is,currently
living at the Seaforth Manor.
She is well-known for her
expertise at cooking and
serving up great food in the
restaurants she and her late
husband, Garnet, ran. first at
the Supertest and later across
from the Commercial Hotel.
Agnes Adams was born in
1910 and married Garnet
' McClinchey in 1926. Garnet
died in 19M .They'.raised
their family in Egmondville
and Seaforth.
Her party was attended by
35 of her 62 direct
descendants including two
great -great grand children.
Relatives included Jack and
his family from Calgary; Bill
and his family from London;
Mayhelle and her family
from Bermuda and London;
Dorothy and her family from
Edmonton; Grant and his
family from Hensall and
Lontkn; Don and his family
from Winnipeg and Cornwall
and Betty's family from
Ottawa, London, Markham
and London.
St. Columban
was an internment camp
where many people were
sent during the Nazi
occupation before
being sent to the
concentration
camps. In the parade
square. there are
102.000 stones, one
for each person -who
died.

where they attended
the baptism of Brendan
David, the son of Marg and
Chris Rooney and a little
brother to Austin.
Pat and Jim Subject,
Kitchener. visited with
her mother. Cecilia
Ryan.
The St, Columban
Men's Soccer Team in
the London First
Division suffered a recent 3-
1 loss to Delhi. Jim O'Reilly
scored the team's single in a
tightly played game which
• was close to the end.
The team hopes to-
. maintain its place in
the First Division
League with victories
in the remaining
games. •
