Huron Expositor, 2000-07-12, Page 1818 -THE HURON EXPOSITOR, July 12, 2000 Correspondents Maplewood Manor head into active summer Residents of Maplewood Manor are enjoying many outdoor activities now that summer is here. • Final church services of the season were held with Rev. Hiscox, Rev. Springett and PastorCorriveau. Their dedication has been greatly appreciated and residents look forward to their return in the fall: Residents thoroughly enjoyed an evening with the Northside Junior Choir for their musical presentation of "Promises. Promises". The ladies of the everting unit of the Northside United Church Women held Chir meeting following the program. . Residentswere interested in taking a tour through the countryside to sec the crops. We were treated to a fun afternoon at a garden party at the home of Margaret Lee where we all had our turn making ice cream. Sampling the results was the. hest part. Father's Day was celebrated by taking all of our gentlemen out for lunch. Residents enjoyed one Iast day playing games with the St. James Grade six class before summer vacation. Residents welcomed Rev. Sheila MacGregor for Bible Study. We look forward to the monthly classes with her. Bill Gibson is always a welcomes visitor who comes to entertain with good old favourite piano tunes. The month ended with a Canada Day Picnic. The celebration with family.and friends included music with - Gladys and the Merrymakers and a cisit from "Boxy" the clown. Queensway Nursing Home barbecues The Nursing Home Family Barbecue on June 29 was a fitting end to our Long Term Care Month Activities. Trophies were awarded to Cecealia Edgar, Jean O'Brien, Ed Galloway and Mildred Gingrich for their Senior Games achievements. The County has recently completed an Ambulance Services Deployment Strategy Study. which Identified the optimal locations of ambulance stations In Huron County. Expressions of Interest offering the use of existing buildings or the development of a new station(s) are being received. interested parties may wish to propose alternatives in terms of leasing or ownership of the facilities. The Ministry of Health has defined specific requirements for the ambulance station facilities. These are contained tri the document General Specifications for Ambulance Stations (draft. April 19951.
