Students ski at Boler Mountain On Feb. 16, the primary division celebrated "Friendship Day." Seaforth Public School They participated in a variety of activities including a puppet show. story telling, and different crafts on friendship. • There are also several clubs for the primary division. They have the opportunity to join the Art and Drama club and/or the jump rope club. On Feb. 15 the junior division went on a fun ski trip to Boler Mountain in London. The senior division is looking forward to their trip to Talisman on Feb. 25. On Feb. 8 there was a public speaking competition held in the gym for the junior and senior di.yisions: The winners for the junior division were: Andrea Van Der Veen in first and Willem Shepherd in second. In the senior division the winners were Mandy Mitchell in first place and Blake Griffiths in second. All the speeches were well presented. On Feb. 8 there was a volleyball tournament held at Central Huron Secondary . School. Both thc senior volleyball teams played well. placing third. overall. • All and all Seaforth Public School is an interesting school with a lot of fun things happening. All Girls Marching Band will soon be on the march again. The hand is preparing for a March Break trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. to participate in Ycar 2000 "Can -Am Days" festivities. "Can -Am Days" is an. annual festival held in Myrtle Beach to celebrate the friendship between the United States and the Canadian snowbirds who winter there. louring their week-long SDHS All -Girls Marching Band stay. hand members will perform at five different locations. • The highlight of the trip will 'be a pre -show performance at the famous "Legends in Concert" theatre. After the performance. the group will stay for the "Legends" concert. The hand will also be performing at the South Myrtle Beach St. Patrick', Day parade. Myrtle Square Mall. Colonial Mall and Broadway at the Beach, home of the Hard Rock Cafe and other famous attractions. . While in Myrtle Beach. the hand will be entertained at the "Dixie Stampede" owned by Dolly Parton. This popular dinner theatre uses the Civil War as a backdrop and features horses and period costumes. On their final night, the group will board the "Barefoot Princess" paddle wheeler for an evening cruise on the inland waterways. Upon returning home from their "Lowcountry" holiday. thc hand will be busy preparing for a season of millennium celebrations close to home. Kippen East WI has 65th anniversary In December, Kippen East Women's Institute celebrated its 65th Anniversary. Two charter members were presented with corsages, Rena Caldwell and Grace Eyre. Kippen East W.I. met Feb. 15 to start the new millennium with a different program. "Where does our money go?" and a "Prescription of Pills" was read by Grace Drummond, our president. Nine members and one visitors answered"the roll with a Valentine verse, some mushy, some funny and some ridiculous. "The Mirror" was read by Ruby Triebner. Don't forget the rug hooking course at the OMAFRA office on March 18. The program consisted of topic discussions on: school uniforms, a grant to Wiarton Willy, why are then c so many homeless people? and what can we do about illegal immigrants. Mona Alderdicc had a reading on thc similarities of Lincoln and Kennedy. Ruby Triebner had a joke; Hilda Payne read a poem and Helen MacLean lcd a contest about places in Ontario. Rena Caldwell had some brain teasers and a jokc. A delicious lunch was served by Marlene Bell and Dorothy Bell. f
