Grade 3s celebrate
end of chemotherapy

Ms. Desjardins'
Kindergarten classes have
been making new friends and
learning routines. There are
J5 new Junior Kindergarten
students and three new
• seniors. They are watching
the changes of -the trees and
the seasons. •
The Kindergartens toured
the school in their costumes
the day of their Halloween
party. Each student made a
jack -o -lantern out of mini
pumpkins or -gourds. from
Joanna Whyte's garden.
• Ms. Desjardins is teaching
Ow children the alphabet
letters and their sounds: They
arc•learning their colours,
shapes. the months and days
of the week and. are looking
forward to being on stage for
the Christmas concert in
December:
Grade ;-
The • Grade 1 class
participated in the fall fair
parade. All the children had
a whole lot of fun, they said:
When the circus came to
Seaforth, Mrs. Hugill took
her class down to sec the
tents being set up. Every
once in_ a while, Mrs. Hugitl
and her class go down to the
Scaforth Lions Pool to play/:

The Grade I s are presently.
learning how to tell time and
they are finding it cxciting to
learn how to read. Their
class is doing a phonies
program. in which there are
different characters presented
with each story then; a songs
is sung.
Grade 2
• In the Grade 2 -class twith
Ms. Van Esbroeck they have
done different activities,
including reading James and
the Giant Peach, having a
party for Halloween and
watching the life cycle of
butterfly with real cocoons.
The class had ordered a
butterfly kit and the children.
watched the butterflies grow
and change throughout their
life cycles. When the class
was done watching the
butterflies they let them all.
go free.
For their class Halloween
party, they hada pumpkin,.
search with 'little, paper
pumpkins. .
D The Grade 2 class read a
book called Flat Stanley by
Jeff Brown. Two of the Flat
Stanley's came to visit the
Grade 2. class. The .one Flat
Stanley was. from New
Jersey and. the other was
from Washington.' The
children in Grade 2 were •
excited to see them.
Grade 3
This year. the Grade 3
students have done projects
on plants. leaves and bark
and grew their own plants.
They were also learning how
to work and count with
money. '
A "No More Chemo- party
celebrated Katelin Nolan's
completion of her
chemotherapy. Katclin's
family also showed up to

Grade 4
This year. the Grade 4
class has been doing many
exciting subjects including a
science unit on habitats. in
geography they are learning
about Canada and its
provinces. The books they
have read include short
stories and Charlotte's Web.
• Grade S
With booming success at
the International Plowing
Match. the Grade 5 class
decided to take a trip to
Gallery Stratford for the Arts
Awareness Program. Their
latest project is on ancient
worlds.

for electrical power and ways
to conserve them. They have
also written autobiographies
about their lives .and hopeful.

ancestral traditions and
customs: : They had an
informative guest speaker,
Ms. Pavkcje's uncle, who
gave a presentation on his

exporting.. • •
Grade 7and 8
Grades 7 and 8 were just
recently in the Fall Fair with
the rest of the school and the,
senior classes. have just
started house leagues. The
senior grades -had their first
school dance onHallowcen .
Mr. Landers' Grade 8 class
is now getting -prepared for
their upcoming confirination
on Nov..20: The students
went On a- retreat to Si.
Columhan on Nov. 9 . •
Ms. Wild's Grade 7 class
has been working hard this
year. Thr -students just did a
big unit on the International
Plowing Match. •

started td read the novel.

Sports Report 1
iSo far this year we have
had three different sport.
events. Our first sports
Outing was the Huron -Perth
Golf. Tournament which tbxok
place at the Mitchell Golf
and Country Club. Ou'r

golf tournament and all
tcams participating displayed
great sponsmanithip; '.
Our top boys' • team
consisted of Brad Henderson.
and Oral O'Reilly who placed
first in. the division and the t
only girt's' team from our
school was Lcah Craig and
Ashley Marion .who placed
first in the girl's division. •
• Our second sportsrouting
was the soccer•• tournament in
Exeter. We had four different
teams in the tournament
including a Jr..and Sr .,boy's
team and a Jr.' and Sr. girl's
team. All of our teams
played well with the Jr. girl
winning two out of three
games while the Jr. hos. ss on
two.gamcs, tied one and I0.t
ohd. In the Senior division
the girls soon two garnc: and
lost one and the boss
finished the tournament ss rth
a 1-1-1- record.

meets. The .first was the
Annual Patrick Cook
Memorial 'Meet held at
S.E.R.C. in Stratford which,
included 30 schools with
about 1.500 students
participating.
