Orientation welcomes Grade 9s
St. Anne's Secondary School
The year has begun with a new group of
Grade 9 students welcomed to the halls of St.
Anne's. Orientation was a positive
experience with our peer mentor group
spending a half-day in activities that would
help to make the studentsfeel more welcome.
-There are many things starting up with .
another school year such as sports teams,
drama club, student government, OSAID,
Amnesty International and so many more.
This year we say a special welcome to seven
exchange students and seven student
teachers. I list them together to show the
novelty of their presence and the opportunity
they bring for us as a school to grow.
The exchange students remind us of how
small our global community is, and the
student teachers help staff and students
become part of the excitement that occurs
when one witnesses the growth of a person
toward the profession of teaching.
This school year poses special challenges to
all involved in secondary schools where they
are dealing -with the new_Ontario curriculum .,
and all the changes that a shift in curriculum
brings.
The dates to note in the near future are the
first dance on Sept. 30. Don't forget your
ticket and your student card, and the fifth
walk for St. Anne's on Oct. 15.
