Ciderfest attendance down 3o per cent
Fun at Ciderfest
Ciderfest, held Sunday at the Van Egmond
House, drew about 600 people, 30 per cent
fewer than last year. Organizers soy the
International Plowing Match and a few
local fall fairs may be responsible for the
reduced numbers attending. Various
historical demonstrations_such as spinning,
' sauerkraut making, rope making and
carving were offered as well as vendors of
cider, apples and other produce, plants,
crafts and yard sate items. At right, Kaitlin
Lawton, 9, of Seaforth watches Tony Vos, of
Blyth work her spinning wheel. Middle
pictures show at left, Ray Huether, 5, of
Walton crank the wheel to make rope while
his brother Matt, 7, watches and at right,
Richard Chessell, of Seaforth, dumping
apples into the grinder to prepare them for
the cider press. At bottom, Gerald Marlene,
of RR 4 Seoforth, shovels crushed apples
