BELL, Neil Campbell passed away
quietly at Seaforth Community
Hospital on September 16. 1999.
He was bum in Cedarville, Proton
Twp., Grey County on September 9.
1920. the son o1 Malcolm Bell and
Jessie (Campbell). His grandpar-
ents emigrated from the Isle of Islay
in 1858. The music of his Scottish
ancestors was always a toy to him.
He was a founding member of the
Cameron Highlanders of Mount
Forest Neil served in the 102
Canadian Light Anti -Aircraft Artillery
Battery of the 8th Regiment in
England. France, Belgium. Holland
and Germany He arrived home on
the Queen Elizabeth on New Years
Day 1946 He maintained a reunion
with his army buddies annually for
50 years. He was employed at
Langdon's Garage in Mount Forest
where he was married to Edna
(Sockett) on July 8. 1950 In Oct.
1952 the family moved to Seaforth
where he operated the. Shell
Garage for 17 years becoming an
institution for a generation of public
school students. He retired in 1985
after several years at Genesco
shoe factory. Friendship was a guid-
ing pnnciple in Neil's Ile seeking
new odes and maintaining life-long
relationships. His pranks and
chuckles will be missed by many.
especially his grandchildren. the
Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club. his
pool pals and his cribbage friends
He served his community in helping
with the building of the t egion Hall.
He.was a member of Town Council
and Board of Stewards He deliv-
ered Meals on Wheels for ten years
and will be remembered for his
many donations of carrot cakes and
cookies. Left to mourn are his
beloved wife Edna and his children
Carol (Dave Walkem) of Yarrow,
13 C.: Laurie (Dave Harron) of
Atwood. Lee (Judy Ziegler) of
Linwood and Julie (Ortwin Groh) of
Sardis. B.0 He was cherished by
his grandchildren Andrew Cemiuk,
Sarah, Gannon and Kathleen

Benjamin Bell: Peter. Philip and
Ellen Groh. He was predeceased
by his parents, his sister Kathleen.

held Friday evening. Funeral ser-
vices were held at 2 p.m Saturday,
Sept 18 with Rev Judith Spnngett
uHicrating, assisted by long-time
friend and war buddy Rev.
Archdeacon Paul Stephaniuk
(Emeritus). At Doug's request the
ashes of Neil's brother Douglas
Cameron Bell were buried with him.
A celebration of Neil's life was held
at Branch 156. the Royal Canadian
Legion following the interment in
Maitlandbank Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alan Bell, Andrew
Cemiuk. Torn Bell, Paul Brown. Tom
Sockelt and Kevin Brown. Flower
bearers were Sarah, Gannon and
Kathleen Harron, Jefffey Bell and
