charged
with
drunk
driving
Huron OPP were trying to
remove a drunk driver's
truck from a tree on a
Tuckersmith - Township
property Friday night when
another drunk driver struck
one of the parked cruisers at
the scene, causing $5.000
damage to the cruiser.' '
Both drivers, a 21 -year-old
Brodhagen man and a 29 -
year -old Tuokel-smith
Township tnan, were
charged after heing found to
have twice the legal limit of
alcohol to drive. ,
Police were called to a
collision on Concession 2 in
Tuckersmith at 1 a.m. when
a resident was awakened by
the sound of a vehicle hitting
the cedar trees on his
property.
A 1985 Ford Ranger pick-
up 'had gone off the road
when the ,driver. from
Brodhagen, attempted to
drive home from a bar in
Vanastrar.
Just before 2 a.m.. a 1989
Chev pick-up approached
the scene from the east and
struck a cruiser sitting on the'
side of the road facing west.
The officer sitting inside the
cruiser was not injured.

More than 100 golfers and 28 celebrities joined forces Saturday to raise funds for Huron
Hospice at the Seaforth Golf and Country Club, setting participation records for the fund raising
event. Moe Norman, who was to lead a special golf clinic, was ill and could not attend. Instead
fans (above) learned from Dan Halldorson, Canadian PGA champion and Ken Venning, CPGA
head professional, Ken Venning (below). Norman plans to come to Seaforth as soon as he is
able and participants in the Hospice event will be invited back for a clinic and round of golf.
Mayor asks how mural subjects are chosen

Council's Aug. 17 meeting
where he questioned how the
decisions were being made
for. mural subjects.
Scott wanted to know if it
was the • Business
Improvement Area that is
picking there out.
The BIA had spearheaded a
plan that would see four
neurals painted on the walls
of area businesses with plans
moving ahead for two of
them:. one of which was
already completed last week:
That mural depicted the
Seaforth All -Girls Marching
- Band from a photograph in
the 1950s.

TreasurerJane Taylor said the
Local Architectural
Conservation Advisory
Committee was asked to help
come up with some' ideas for
.the murals and that the idea
for the hand did not come out
of those suggestions hut from
some heing made by the
public.
At the time of the decision.
whether or not there would
he school hoard funding for
the hand had hetome an issue
and there were Concerns
about the future of the hand.
People were witting .to
donate money toward the
project if it depicted the hand.
Taylor said the suhject
matter is not set in stone.
Reeve Lin Steftldr said she
thought the subject matter
was going to he coming to
council first.
At an earlier meeting,
Taylor had told council
drawings of the murals would
come across the council
table.
But at the last meeting. she
pointed out this mural was
done completely from the
photograph so'there were no
mural designs sketched out
ahead of time.

Tools and stereo stolen
from Seaforth vehicles
Tools valued over $1.700,
a car stereo and a quantity of
Canadian Tire money were
stolen from three separate
vehicles in Seaforth over the
weekend. reports the Huron
OPP.
An unlocked car parked in
the driveway of a John Street
residence had a Sony
AM/FM CD player stolen,
leaving the dash damaged.
Two Milwaukee cordless
drills. one Makita skill saw
and one Astro roof nailer
were stolen from the
unlocked truck cap of a truck
parked on West William
Street.
And, a quantity of
Canadian Tire money was
stolen from a car on James
Street.
Anyone with any related
information is asked to call
Crimestoppers or the Huron
OPP.
Clarification
A story in the Aug. 18 edition of The Huron Expositor
about Tuckcrsmith Township council's deputy -reeve Bill
DeJong resigning from his council's restructuring committee
has been misinterpreted by some readers that he resigned
from 'counci 1.
DeJong says he's received several calls from Tuckersmith
residents asking if he has resigned from council.
While he did resign from the restructuring committee at the
July 20 meeting of Tuckersmith council. DeJong remains the
deputy -reeve of Tuckersmith Township.
