Top bulls on display at Holstein Show
Expect to get a real idea of how top
bulls make their mark at -this year's
Huron County Holstein Show. Friday.
Aug. 13 at the Seaforth Agricultural .
Park.
To best reveal how a bull's genetics
can affect daughters: event organizers
have organized a new attraction,- a '.-
progeny re' iew. Several dairy- farmers .
will be.entering cows in this non-
.competitiye display. The cows will be
daughters of two of the Holstein breed's
top hulls: Rohthom Integrity. a well-
respected superior type sire. and.
Second -Look Jolt. Canada's :highest
"Nev. Class Extra" sire.
• The progeny review'gives farmers and
spectators a chance to see a bull's
genetics are truly reelected in his .
daughters. It's valuable information for -
dairy farmers who often rely solei' on
genetic indexes and classification '
numbers when breeding their cows.. •
Plus. the display will allow spectators to
get a close-up vie* of some of the .
county's finest Holstein cattle.
The very best cattle in the county will
be led around the ring as dairy farmers
compete for the coveted Premier'
Exhibitor award. The annual show
. allows dairy farmers to exhibit their top
dairy cows and heifers to win prizes and
• see how their cattle compare to other
breeder's cattle. Judging the event will
be Frank Donkers of Branchton.
Ontario.
Over -100 cattle are expected at the
show: in Seaforth: The show starts at f,
p.m. and is open to the public.
