Variety of games makes competition keener
As i write this column l
have mixed emotions. It's the
first day of summer' and I'm'
happy that summer is finally
.here. However. since it's also
the longest day. the days will.
begin to.'get shorter and
. shorter as we .start the
downward trek to fall and
winter.
As golfers, we must make
the .most of our summers
herein Canada: The flowers
are in. the cottage is ready.
the pool is full. holidays
loom..ii's time to play golf.
There are a • variety of
game: that golfers have
created to ' make the
competition'keenerand the
round more interesting. You
could agree to play with a
"hidden' hole' format. You
just play your normal gate/
and then at the d of the
round you' dra the niimher.

Pierson with a hest.score on
that hole win . .
You. can play hidden
partners. YOU play your own
hall. keep sc„re. and at the
end put the players'- names in
the hat and draw pairs. The,
pair with the lowest total
,core .wins: All of these
formats allow players to play
their own hall and still post a
score' for handicap purposes.
Many people like to play
'Bingo. Banco. Bongo.:
which is a way of keeping
score througha point system.
First person on the green gets
a point..Closest. to the hole
when everyone is on -gets
.another pot nt. and first into
the hole gets another point.
Tearn. games abound

There are many great golf
games. Whether you play for
