Lamont to represent Liberals
BY PAT LIVINGSTON
Lucknow Sentinel Editor
Ross: Lamont', of Saugeen
Shores (Port Elgin) will be
the liberal contender in the
Huron -Bruce riding when the
• next provincial election is
called.. Lamont garnered the
•majority of 341 ballots cast at
the nomination meeting in
Lucknow on March 27.
. "It's a big job. and not an
easy fight," said Lamont after.
being named the successful

About 400 Liberal

meeting to hear Lamont and

Lamont. "I'll be a strong
voice for you and
agriculture." - He referred to the
Conservatives' cuts' to
education as giving "the short
end of the stick to our
children. Valuable programs
have been cut. I want to be
part of a government that
works withtrustees, students

health care," he said.
Four of the eight reactors at
BNPD, the largest employer
in the riding, are in a laid -up
state. Lamont said. "The
Ontario government needs to

energy needs. "I'm committed
to restart."
Lamont said there are many
myths in the Harris
government. First he spends
millions of dollars.to get rid
of nurses: then he hires them
back. Tax cuts have not
evolved to be of much
consequence for taxpayers.
The . promised balanced
budget will not happen. "He
hasn't kept his promise."
saidLamont.
"I will be your voice, the
strong Liberal voice," said
Lamont. "We as Liberals
must stand up and tell the
people the truth."
