Everyone loves a mystery. It can be fun to think
hard about how something happened, and it's
even more fun when you find the right solution.
Many people write entire books about mysteries,
and the readers don't know the solution until the
very end of the book. One such writer was Dame
Agatha Christie.
Agatha Christie was born on September 15, 1890,
in England. She did not go to school when she was
growing up. Instead', she learned at home, and she
read many books. When she was 30 years old, she
wrote a book called The Mysterious Affair At Styles.
After this book, she
wrote nearly 100 novels
that are great favorites
today among mystery
fans (a mystery fan is
someone who loves to
read mystery novels).
Christie also wrote
plays, and some of her
plays were made into movies. Other people made
movies based on her books.
Christie became very famous because of her books.
In 1971, she was made a Dame Commander of the
British Empire—a very important honor.
