Local novices win Flanagan tourney
Stars sweep to crown
It took them most of the
first period to get it into gear.
but Seatorth's novices shifted
immediately into overdrive
and cruised to the Blue
division crown Sunday night
at this season's annual Peter
Flanagan Memorial Hockey
Tournament at the local
arena.
Seaforth broke a scoreless
deadlock by notching nine
unanswered goals in ,10 1/2
• minutes. the Stars' first
coming with 38 seconds
remaining in the opening
period. which put -them well
on their way to the title with
an i 1-1 triumph over Twin
Centres.
• It is the first time the
Seaforth novices have won
their own tournament since it
became the Flanagan
Memorial five years ago.
Seaforth' coach Jim
- Campbell says he doesn't
know what all of a sudden got
into his squad.
"The tournament seemed
more significant because we
won it on our own ice.- he
says.
Seaforth only surrendered
four goals in three game. all
of them wins, topping the
eight teams in their Blue
division.
Another eight teams played
Saturday in the Red division.

Seaforth won both Sunday.
Chaput was the top shooter,
and Nurse the top goalie.
Ryan O'Reilly potted a pair
