Sour cream
stolen in
Seaforth
There was a "Sno White"
sour crcam heist in Seaforth
last week.
They say 17 cases of "Sno
White Farms Style Natural
Sour Cream" went missing
sometime overnight Tuesday
from Quality Jersey Products
on High Street.
Report of the break, enter
and theft was received at 10
a.m. Wednesday.
"Sometime during the night
persons entered a door on the
west side of the building,"
the police report states. Once
inside thieves went to a
refrigerated area and.
removed the cases of sour
cream.
"Then they exited the build-
ing through the rear into the
parking lot where the proper-
ty was loaded into a vehicle."
The same night in Seaforth
a stereo am/fm cassette play-
er valued at $500 was stolen
from an unlocked building on
John Street after the garage
was entered, and an attempt
was made to break into a
shed on Sparling Street.
Provincial police say "no
entry was gained to thc build-
ing but the door/lock area
was damaged in the attempt."
Last Thursday at an RR 1
Seaforth residence, in
McKillop Township, OPP
say a bicycle was reported
stolen in the last two days.
It was a blue and purple
ladies Norco 15 -speed.
Request okayed
Clerk/administrator Jim
Crocker reported to Seaforth
Council last Tuesday night
that the town's engineers "B.
M. Ross and Associates
received a request from Tony
Tascione to prepare engineer-
ing drawings for a 4.5 acre
subdivision in the southwest
sector of Seaforth."
"Bruce Potter (of B. M.
Ross) has indicated his inter-
est in the assignment with thc
understanding that should
any conflict arise he will
withdraw his services from
thc subdivision design and
planning process.
"This approach is consistent
with previous projects," the
clerk's report concludes.
Council approved
Crocker's recommendation
that approval be conveyed to
the town's engineers to pro-
ceed under those terms.
• Written off
At its May 5 meeting,
Hullett Council carried a
motion to write-off thc out-
standing amount of a loan
owing by thc Auburn Hall
board to the township."

The Friendship Circle of
Hensall United hosted a
meeting on Monday evening
May 4 with more than 50
attending from area churches.
Kay Elder was chair and
welcomed all. She opened
with a reading, "The World
Has Seen A Million
Springs".
The devotional was taken
by Shirley McAllister who
opened with an untitled poem
by Jim Taylor. The hymns
used were from "Songs of
Gospel People." "Would You
Bless Our Home and Family"
was sung followed by scrip-
ture readings taken from
Galatians.
Shirley read a portion from
a book written by Roht.
Fulgum on "The Meaning of
Life". This was followed by
prayer and the singing of
"There's a Quiet
Understanding".
Helen MacLean and Erla
Coleman took up the offering
and it was dedicated by
Shirley.
Laura Elder sang a delight-
ful number entitled "These
are a Few of my Favorite
Things". Joyce Pepper
accompanied her on piano.
The special speaker for the
evening was Betty Simpson
of Glencoe who gave a most
interesting and humorous his-
tory of hats, dating back to
the early settlers, Boer war,
First World War, right up to
Second World War. She mod,
eled all the hats and told us
interesting stories about each
one. The ladies were divided
into four groups depending
on the color of the hats on
their name tags for a contest
and lunch.
A time of fellowship and
delicious dessert was hosted
by Marg Cole, Hazel Corbett,
Shirley McAllister and Kay
Mock.
