Fishing derby set for Saturday a.m.
Seaforth's annual fishing
derby, for kids 14 -years -old
and under. is this Saturday,
April 25, at Lions Park. It
begins at 7 a.m. sharp. Prizes
will be awarded. Come and
try to catch one of the 350
stocked trout in the river.
The Seaforth Co-operative
Children's Centre is celebrat-
ing 20 years of serving fami-
lies in the community with a
"Celebration in the Park" at
the end of May. It will
include the parrot show from
African Lion Safari, local
entertainment, vendors and
food in Victoria Park in
Seaforth. This celebration is
on May 31 from 12 noon to 4
p.m. Come celebrate with tis!
Space is still available for
interested vendors and enter-
tainers.

Minor Hockey Association is
holding its annual meeting
on May 14 at the Seaforth
and District Community
Centres beginning at 7:30
p.m. If any parent would like
to make changes, additions,
and/or deletions to the consti-
tution, they must be submit-
ted to the following before

holds dinner
The Seniors ' Bowling
League ended its season
April 17 with a dinner at the
Legion. followed by awards,
short annual meeting and
Euchre.
Awards were given out to:
high team "Headaches," Ann
Wood, John Aubin, Grace
Corbett, Norma Eisler, Fred
• Munnings, Bill Mitchell; low
team, "Pacemakers," Joyce
Bailey, Campbell Wey, Pearl
James, 'Betty Leonhardt,

Steve Hook and Ann Wood;
high triple, Ron Bennett and
Grace Corbett; high single,
Bob Harris and Paulene
Bennett. Most improved
bowlers were Bob Harris and
Shirley Morrison. Perfect
attendance was achieved by
Joyce Bailey, Catherine
Staples and Ron Bennett.
Charles Perkin's treasurer's
report was approved and the
executive slate for 1998-1999
w'as finalized as president -
Betty Oldacre, secretary -
Grace Corbett, treasurer -
Charles Perkins.
Ten games of euchre were
enjoyed. There were seven
tables in play, with prizes
won as following: High
Betty Leonhardt, Glen
McClure and Steve Hook.
Lone hands Betty Hulley and
Charles Pcrkins. Low, Peart
James and Kcn Oldacre.
Recreation Preview

association would also like to
remind everyone about its
$10,000 cash draw and dance

held today, and next week is
the "Senior Games" competi-

Watt finishes fourth in team scoring

Watt of Egmondville finished
fourth in team scoring during
the just -completed regular
schedule for the American
Hockey League's Hamilton
Bulldogs.
He notched 49 points in 63
games, from 24 goals and 25
assists, and finished plus
seven in plus-minus statistics.
Mann wins shoot
Twenty shooters were on
hand Sunday for the third
annual Lloyd Vennor
Memorial Shoot at the
Kippen Gun Club. Fifty skeet
and '50 trap targets were
thrown to make up the proms,
gram. Three classes were
decided by hidden score A,,
B,C, and veterans class com-
prised of shooters of over 60
years of age.
The winners were: A Class
Brad Mann, 94; B Class
Mark Tuckey, 93; C Class
Gord Robinson 88; and
Veterans Bill Stewart. 95.
Soccer season
heating up at
Seaforth high

The soccer season at SDHS
is heating up. The Senior
Girls' team suffered a nail-
biting 1-0 defeat on Tuesday,
April 14 to Goderich District
Collegiate Institute. The
Junior Girls notched a mark
in the loss column on
Tuesday as well. Both teams
played on Thursday, April 16
in Clinton against St. Anne's.
The Senior team managed a
tic (1-1). while thc Junior
team lost its second game 5-
0. Future games arc on
Tuesday, April 21 beginning
at 2 p.m. at SDHS against
Exeter and on Thursday,
April 23 in Wingham against
Madill. The Boys' team plays
Monday and Wednesday next
week. This year, thc SDHS
soccer teams look good and
should be reckoning forces.
Friday, April 16 was hat
day at Seaforth District High
School. Students were
allowed to wear their hats all
day by bringing a canned
good for thc local food bank.
This is an ongoing campaign
by the high school to help the
food bank. It has been well
received by students.
Mid-term reports were sent
home on Friday, April 17. A
parent -teacher interview
night is scheduled for
Wednesday, April 22.
Everyone is welcome.

on the powerplay (he scored
one while the team was short-
handed) and four of his goals
were game -winners.
Jeff Daw led the Bulldogs
in points, with 63, and Scott
Fraser was the team's top
lamplighter with 29 goals in
50 games.
Rookie centre Boyd
Devereaux of Seaforth, who
played up this season until
recently with Hamilton's
NHL parent, the Edmonton
Oilers, had 11 points in 14
games with the Bulldogs. He
scored five goals, along with
six assists.
