The Huron Expositor, 1998-04-01, Page 6Weekly green pick-ups begin Monday The Village of Hensall will commence weekly green pick-up on Monday, April 6. The pick-up will be each Monday, unless there is a holiday, in which case the pick-up will be on the Tuesday. Items include: grass, clippings, garden waste, limbs, etc. These items should be in cardboard boxes or containers -- no bags will be collected. Limbs need to be tied with string or twine, and must be no longer than four feet in length. Items should not be more than forty pounds. The weekly pick-up is a free service, completed by the Hensall Works Department. Items which do not adhere to the guidelines, will not be collected. Hensall residents are also reminded that weekly co -col- lection of tagged garbage and recyclables will resume in the month of May. Sybille Schaufler welcomed everyone to the March meet- ing of Hensall and District Horticultural Society, held at Queensway. Following the singing of the national anthem, Pam Grusska intro- duced guest speaker Deb Witte, of Parkhill. In a show and tell portion of the meeting Jennifer Roth showed a couple of cocoons and a moth her son had found. Dorothy Elder volun- teered to bring a houseplant for the District 8 annual meeting. Dorothy was per- haps the most complete lep- rechaun in the crowd as she was wearing green down to her shoes. Liz Sangster gave a brief presentation on the evening's theme flower, the perennial geranium, and passed around a few leaves she had dug up from under the snow. The winner of the free ticket to the District 8 meeting was Adrian Bayley. At Carmel Presbyterian Church, Rev. Kevin Steeper's message was "A Fine Point". Dorothy Taylor was the organist. Harry Smith and Bob Bell received the offer- ing. At Hensall United Church the greeters were Irene and Stewart Blackwell. Veronica and John Thomson were the ushers with Dave Campbell looking after the elevator. Mark Garlough was in charge of the music. Nancy Fraser was the minister. Ross Kercher was the lector. The Annual Beef Supper will he held on April 22 with the first sitting at 5 p.m. and the second at 6:30.
