Mr. Bentley gets all the attention
A new year has begun and
the first month is already
past. Residents are enjoying
the company of a new pet -
Mr. Bentley. He is a beautiful
Persian cat who will take all
the attention he can get.
Crokinole is becoming a
very popular game for resi-
dents at Maplewood. Thanks
to Peggy and Charlie Perkins,
Barbara Scott and Beth Pryce
for coming to help with this
activity.
Church services take place
every Wednesday at
Maplewood. This month Jane
Kuepfer, Rev. Vandermey
and Rev. Hiscox were in
charge. Bea Kale, Mary
Delong, Catherine Hak and
Adrienne Hutchinson of St.
James Church brought com-
munion to residents of their
church.
Walton School was closed Friday
Staff and school kids alike
walked into a cool building
on Friday. It was discovered
-- that water was in the oil tank.
Parents were called and the
Walton Public School was
closed for the day.
Anyone interested in help-
ing out the Diehl family can
drop off clothing or furniture
at the school. Money dona-
tions for the family can be
given at the Winthrop store
or CIBC in Seaforth. The
school itself is holding a

Rev Murray welcomed
everyone and the Call to
Worship was given. The
choir sang, "When We Are
Living" and then the children
were called forward where
Rev. asked how many of
them had their Valentine card
ready? Valentines are nice he
told them, they let people
know how special they are.
They all use the one word -
Love, and love can mean so
many different things. He
told them that there is love
for parents, friends, pets, love
between parents etc.
He asked what the Greek
gods were like on Zena and
Hercules? "Mean, vindictive,
rude and hurtful" were some
of the answers. In contrast we
worship a God of Love.
Rev. Murray's sermon was
called "What Kind Of Love
Is This?"

What are the three most important
things about property assessment?
Fairness, fairness and fairness.
During February, property owners will receive a Notice of Property
Assessment and an information package in the mail.
Your Notice shows the Current Value Assessment of your property.
From now on, property assessments will be kept fair, consistent
and up-to-date for everyone. Your municipality will continue to be
responsible for setting municipal property tax rates.
•
Your Notice package will tell you more about the Ontario Fair
Assessment System. For example, it will tell you:
• how municipalities must assist low-income'senior and disabled
homeowners and how they can phase in any tax changes over
a period of up to eight years;
• where and when information sessions on the new system will be
held in your community.
For more information, call the Assessment Information Line at:
1-800-827-1857 or call your Regional Assessment Office. Or visft
