The Huron Expositor, 1998-01-21, Page 13GLUM FACES - Spirits weren't soaring on the bench of Seaforth's atom 11 hockey 'team early Sunday moming at the arena as Lucknow unloaded on the locals 7-0 in the annual Seaforth and District Minor Hockey Association atom tournament. Our atom 1 team was at the Silver Stick so our other atoms had to carry the flag. Still, watching goaltender Mark Wilbee was worth the price of admission. McInally all-star MVP Cents hammer Hawks twice The Centenaires ripped the Exeter Hawks 8-1 in front of about 325 delighted fans in Seaforth Friday night for their sixth -straight win on home ice. Sunday night at Belmont against the equally as hot Bombers, the Cents lost their first game. in five starts 3-0. And last Tuesday night in Exeter, the Cents hammered the Hawks for the first time last week, only this time on 'their home ice. by a score of 6-2. 'it) top it all off, veteran Cents' centre Steve Mclnally was chosen the most valuable player for thc West (Ycck) Conference at the Ontario Hockey Association Junior "D" annual all-star game at Lucan on Saturday night. The Bombers look like they are going to make the play- offs this year, for the first time in many' a moon. Sunday night's score was not indicative of play says Seaforth manager Dave Parsons. Belmont out -shot the Cents 46-40, taking a,2-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes. The final period was scoreless. Exeter also had three play- ers tossed- Chris McDonald, Dan Taylor and Greg Goodwin., to Scaforth's none. The Ccntenaires scored early and often. They led 3-0 after thc first and 4-1 after the second, as the good local crowd went crazy. Shaun Anstett led the way Local lads senior stars A pair of Scaforth and area hockey players, Ted Sills and Brent van den Akker, repre- sented the Clinton Radars at Saturday's Western Ontario Athletic Association senior all-star game at Goderich.
