Scott says he knows how
council works because he's
covered many of them. He
adds he's not unfamiliar with
managing either, which is
one of his jobs as editor of
the local paper.
He also did it when he was
a production co-ordinator for

He was Seaforth high
school's valedictorian in
1983-1984, the same year he
won the local branch of the
Royal Canadian Legion's
public speaking award. He
graduated from Ryerson in
radio -television arts in 1987,

He said he was personally
proud the Huron board still
has junior kindergarten here.
He pointed out the public
board now shares 121 of 150
bus routes with either the
local separate school board or
the Clinton Christian School.
Carter said much of his past
nine months have been spent
working with the local educa-
tion improvement committee,
which has 30 subcommittees,
which will make recommen-
dations to the new Huron -
Perth Board (District #8). He
estimated $50,000 in amalga-
mation costs from this time,
and said no funding model
from the province has been
forwarded, and without some
kind of model no jobs can be
guaranteed.
The retiring chair said the
Huron board of education
spends a lot on "regulations."
WATCH RESERVE
He said it moves into amal-
gamation "debt free" and
with about $1,7 -million in

But this may change by the
start of January.
He said it has been board

Scott says.
He feels the outcome of the
current teacher's strike will

swayed from its position."
"Maybe townships should

cause more division between
the towns and townships

you're talking about Huron

"Hopefully we can come up
with a solution that benefits
everyone equally," he says.
