Cars stolen on `Devil's Night'

Halloween is sometimes
called "Devil's Night." It
lived up to that description
in Seaforth and surrounding
area last Thursday night.
The Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police
report "during the early
morning hours of Oct. 31,
thieves went on a rampage
in Stanley and Tuckersmith
Townships. In all seven
vehicles were stolen from
area homes and usod as bat-
tering rams to knock over
stop and yield signs in the
rural areas.
"The vehicles were driven
through corn fields and
ploughed fields in what
appears to have been a game
of high-speed tag."
All seven vehicles were
recovered, the last of them
Friday morning "just out-
side Seaforth in
Tuckersmith Township."
"One of the vehicles had
been burned beyond recog-
nition and two others sus-
tained heavy body damage,"
the original OPP press
release continues. "There
are no suspects at this time.
