"I do not have any election
mises, but 1 will do my
t to serve the residents of
Hibbert ward," he said.
Current deputy -reeve
Robert 1. Norris, of RR 2
Staffa, is the fourth candidate
on council today seeking
election. Norris has had nine
years experience on council,
the first six as councillor and
the past three as deputy -
reeve.
Past president of the Perth
County Farm Safety
Association, he is a current
member of the Mitchell &
District Agricultural Society
and an elder of the Hibbert
United Church.
He, like everyone case,
feels the transition of the
townships and the Town of
Mitchell must merge in a
"smooth. organized and equi-
table" manner, and in order to
accomplish this, he believes
we will need elected officials
"with experience. foresight
and a conciliatory attitude."
A farmer, he stresses the
identity of the township must
be retained while still main-
taining the quality of service
to which residents are accus-
tomed.
"To accomplish all of this
will be a demanding and
time-consuming task and I
am willing to give freely of
my time and energy to the
successful formation of the
Township of West Perth." he
said.
Bob and his wife Bernice
have four children, Patricia

Two in race for single Hibbert seat on PUC
A brand new politician is
seeking the lone Public
Utilities Commission (PUC)
seat for the Hibbert ward—
and he's challenging a 24 -
year veteran in the process.
Mike Cronin, 28, of
Dublin, says the change in
the restructured municipality
of West Perth is significant,
and a young, dedicated and
committed individual is
needed.

With the amalgamation, the
Police Village of Dublin and
its three trustees will cease to
exist, but they will still have
a seat with the PUC in the
new municipality with three
commissioners from
Mitchell.
Cronin and his wife
Colleen have two young chil-
dren, and he said that despite
being born and raised in

crowd.
Dyck also noted in an earli-
er interview that one of the
teachers' best chances at gain-
ing support will not he
through large advertising
campaigns, but by teachers
talking to parents in their
community.
"We will gain the support
and respect of the parents in
our community by those one

stated. "individual teachers,
that's our strength."
He added that parents and
other community members
will have a chance to hear
some of their local teachers'

Wingham, Goderich and

As for the length that par-

"this government withdraws

that must be made."

wants to be on hand to see

"We will need experience

He says he's fearful that
West Perth will raise rates in
