The Huron Expositor, 1997-10-08, Page 5and organizing, everything
wan well as planned and we
are considering planning a
second annual DR Fiesta next
summer. This event goes to
prove that teenagers are not
all irresponsible, useless and
up to no good. We are proud
of the time and effort we put
into this and the money that
we raised.

educational quality for our
students in Ontario?
1b this the kind of s11p1port a
rover: meat gives to people
that must play a extremely
important role at shaping and
instructiwg the youth of
tomorrow? 1 have been
actively involved in the oda-
cation system for over 30
years. 1 have never felt so
angry, frustrated and tined.of
the constant burage and
attack by your government
on the teachers of this
province. In one breath your
Premier tells the European
community they should
invest in Ontario, because it
has the best education system
in the world. In the next
breach he tells us that we can-
not be educating our youth!
Clearly you and your govern-
ment are trying to force
teachers into a province wide
illegal walkout. This is not
the way to improve the quali-
ty of Ontario's education sys-
tem. No
ys•tem.No teacher wants to
strike. and if your party
would negotiate and work
with teachers with the "com-
mon sense" you purport to
have. a confrontation could
bercally avoided.
Everyone knows a strike is
not the solution, but your
agenda is clear. Let the teach-
ers of Ontario withdraw their
services for a protracted
length of time and Bingo,
you will have saved billions
of dollars to fuel your ludi-
crous tax cuts with virtually
no thought of the long term
implications on Ontario and
its youth. 1 urge and implore
you to work toward the with-
drawal of Bill 160 and enter
into some meaningful and
positive negotiations that will
be of benefit to all of us who
are involved in Ontario's sys-
tem of education. 1 await and
hope.for a sensible positive
may.
Yours in education,
