EDUCATION DAY
The Hi-Lites have once
again qualified for the
Harmony International
Chorus and Quarter
Competition, the next at Oct.
29 to Nov. 2 at the Hamilton
Convention Centre. Well-
known local barbershop
singer Dave Campbell will be
helping to fine-tune their fall
repertoire.
In addition, on Sept. 20 the
Hi-Lites are hosting an edu-
cation day from 9 a.m. to 6
p.m. at Seaforth's high school
for about 100 members "from
North Bay, Maryhill, Sarnia,
Guelph, Orillia, Brantford,
Peterborough, Hanover,
London and Leamington."
"Jean Ross from Pittsburgh,
currently a qualified
Harmony judge in the presen-
tation category, will be
instructor for the day," says a
Hi-Lites' press release. "With
some people on risers she
will coach on how to inter-
pret a ballad. Then, with an
up-tempo piece and the assis-
tance of the audience, she
will add choreography to it. .
"In the afternoon Ross will
show how to apply "on-
stage" make-up for competi-
tion of four Hi -Lite volun-
teers. •
"This will be done step-by-
step, under full stage lights,
to show how the person's
face comes alive," the press
release continues. "Then
these volunteers will go back
into the audience, so that it
can be seen exactly how
much make-up is required for
it to show up under those
stage lights!"
