CEMENTED DOWN

paint, among other things, to
,get this tractor humming
again.
New steel side panels were
custom-made by hand by a
man down around Chatham.
BIG STEEL SPIKES
Rubber wheels were rela-
tively new and an option on
this model back more than a
half -century ago, LeBeau
explains, and some farmers
weren't fussy on them, say-
ing they wouldn't Iasi
because they would spin ane
the tractor then get stuck.
This particular model's neat
wheels have big metal spikes
you wouldn't want to get
caught under, for traction.
The heavy old tractor
would chew up a cement
floor in short order these
days. It has long metal bars
as mud -scrapers, mounted on
those big back wheels.
It also has a disk around the
circumference of the smaller
front steel wheels for turning.
This year is the 150th
anniversary of the Massey -
Harris company.

MANHOLES - In an out-of-the-way part of Seaforth's
sanitary sewers have been mysteriously vandaliied.
"The manhole was com-
pletely cleaned out, the frame
and grate assembly was rein-
stalled and cement was
poured around the complete
manhole to fully secure the
unit," Forrest told council.
All three manholes are now
cemented down.
The work was complicated
by having to bring cement in
with a front-end loader to
such a relatively remote spot.
away from any normal
access.
Council discussed the sec-
ond vandalism incident in
committee of the whole after
the February flooding, when

hadn't in the past. This was
in part because of the sheer
volume of water from the
storm, an electrical failure of
the control system at the
pumping station which is run
by the Ontario Clean Water
Agency, and phone lines
being out of order around
town early that morning,
among other reasons.
