returned to the National
Hockey League last week.
.and managed to score his
100th career goal, for the
New York Islanders in their
3-4 loss to the Dallas Stars
last -Wednesday night.
He also picked up an assist
in his first game back up in
the bigs with the Isles, the
Saturday before.
McLiwain has bon playing
for the international Hockey
League's -Cleveland
Lumberjacks for most of the
past two seasons 'but the
weaves 100th career goal
Islanders signed ;him. io a
contract this season -before
sending him back down.
They are fighting fora play-
off spot. and called him up
last week to replace left-
winger Niklas Andersson
who injured his foot.
His 100th goal came on the
powerplay at 13:36 of the
third period, assisted by
Berard and Janssen on Long
Island.
Andersson is now back in
the lineup and McLlwain's
father Jack wasn't sure if.
Dave was in New York's
lineup fur this Saturday
night's game. If he was it
would have been his 300th
game in the NHL. He has
played for Pittsburgh (twice),
Winnipeg. Toronto, Ottawa,
Buffalo and the islanders
(twice) at various times since
entering the -NHL in 1986-87.
Dave is eligible to rtstuw to
the IHL Lumberjacks who
are in second place and have
clinched a playoff berth. As
of this morning he remained
second in Cleveland scoring
(three points back of Jeff
Chnstian) with 29 goals and
43 assists for 72 points
-despite missing some weeks
due to injury.
An interesting sidebar -
Christian has a team leading
260 minutes in penalties
Dave has 85.
Meanwhile, Seaforth's
(Dublin) other player now in
the NHL, rookie Rem
Murray, remains tied for best
plus-minus (+11) on
Edmonton's Oilers. He has
31 points in 79 games from
11 goals and 20 assists, play-
ing on the Oilers' checking
line.
Seaforth- minor hockey season ends with atom, novice tourneys
The last hockey tourna-
ments of the season were
held et the Seaforth and
District Community Centres
on the weekend. Arena
employees started taking the
ice out yesterday (Tuesday).
Eight novice 11 teams had a
tournament Sunday. and on
Saturday the atom "1"s did
. likewise, to complete half a
tournament held earlier this
season that was postponed
because of a snowstorm.
'Lions Head 1 beat Lions
Head 11 2-2 on shots (2-0) for
the novice II title. Seaforth's
entre split its starts, bom-
barding Ayr 8-2 in the morn-
ing and getting nipped by the
eventual champs from Lions
Head 5-3 in the afternoon.

Mitchell won Saturday's
atom I tourney. beating
Milverton 6-3 in overtime,•in
the championship game that
was called :32 seconds from
the end because all adults on
