Ontario's health ministry
announced last Thursday "a
$2.1 -million reinvestment in
community-based mental
health services in southwest-
ern Ontario... (that) will
result in more than $650,000
for Huron and Perth
Counties."
A ministry press release
states $23.5 -million is being
reinvested across the
province under he health
ministry's community invest-
ment fund. in this area the
funding will be split among
several projects in the two

describes these services as

line and 24-hour crisis sup-
port workers...available to
those people with a serious
mental illness with the goals
of preventing and/or decreas-
ing hospital admissions:
• $19,665 for a family
development initiative in
Huron that will develop the
necessary support for fami-
lies of individuals who are
severely mentally ill;
• $51,500 for a consumer
survivor initiative in Huron
County that will assist in the
development of consumer
survivor groups that will pro -
vine support to those people
with a serious mental illness:
• $45,000 for a crisis work-
er/case manager who will
provide enhanced and consis-
tent crisis intervention for
urgent referrals and will
enhance case management
services to individuals with a
serious mental illness:
• $7,395 for community
outreach for the elderly (cri-
sis intervention and educa-
tion) to Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital
"through education to health
and social service providers
regarding the needs of elderly
people with a serious mental
illness:
• $22.000 for enhanced case
managernent services to the
southern end of Perth County
(St. Marys).
Delightful memories
from `Nasty Habits'
As March bids farewell. the
residents of Seaforth Manor
Nursing Home have delight-
ful memories of the Irish cel-
ebrations held in honor of St.
Patrick's Day. A new group
of entertainers. "The Nasty
Habits" was given rave
reviews by everyone and pro-
vided a novel singing act for
our Irish pub night held in
conjunction with our
Retirement Home. Anne
Leeper provided piano enter-
tainment for the evening, as
several seniors from the com-
munity joined the folks at the
Manor for the event. A St.
Patrick's Day dinner and
dance also brought communi-
ty seniors in for the "compli-
mentary outreach program"
offered by the Manor. "Max
Ducharme and The
Townliners" had folks danc-
ing for the evening in the
midst of green balloons and
streamers. Fancy lunch and
door prizes rounded out the
evening. In the nursing home
the "Notes of Yesteryear"
provided our birthday party
entertainment. Many happy
returns to Barb Carroll, Joe
Lane and Ralph McFadden
for the month of March.
Piano concerts by Bill
Gipson and Marian Rose
were also enjoyed.
The Baking Club made
delicious shamrock. cookies
which everyone enjoyed for
afternoon tea. Providing

education groups through the Children's Aid Society. She is a certified
facilitator of 'Parents Teaching Virtues" workshop.
