There are many things to arrange
and photography is important
By Ties Jacobs
A couple who were getting
married came to me not long ago.
After discussing their budget and
photographic needs we assembled
a suitable package. It was then
that 1 was asked, "what time of
day would be best for the
pictures?" and then went on to say
they would try and schedule their
day accordingly.
I almost fell off my chair.
It is a rare thing for engaged
couples to prioritize their wedding
schedule with the photographer
and pictures at the top of the list.
There are many things for the
couple to consider and arrange
such as the church, minister,
reception hall, caterers etc.... and,.
oh yeah, the photographer.
Photographers would like to be
at the top of everyone's list but
that is not the case. I am
presenting a view in favor of
considering photography as a
priorly, near the top of your "to
do" list.
Afterall, when the wedding day
is finished and the honeymoon is
over, what's left are your
memories and the photographs.
When a couple approaches
about wedding photography, 1
discuss four scheduling items 1
consider most important in
producing quality images.
1) time of year
2) time of day
3) time available for
photography
4) location
These items are related and
affect each other. if your wedding
was in mid-December at 4 p.m.
for example, could we do a
selection of outdoor shots? The
time of year makes it cold, windy
and the time of day makes it dark.
Choices become limited to
discussing indoor locations.
A couple with a June 15 date
whose wedding is in town at 2:30
p.m. and whose reception is also
in town at 5 p.m. would like
pictures taken on location in
Benmil ler.
It is important to recognize time
constraints and to be aware of the
fact it takes time to produce
quality images and time to travel.
In that scenario, we're looking at
an hour of shooting time. What

Location
There are many great locations within Huron County to make
your wedding photos unigab and memorable. Take time to think
about appropriate locations and the time needed to ge there.
Time Of day
Most wedding photographs, are taken after the ceremony and
before the reception. Try and pick shady locations if the shoot
will take place during the middle part of the day to prevent
harsh shadows.
