Novices win consolation David Chessell and Mike McLaughlin netted the goals as the local novices won the consolation championship of the blue division at the Peter Flanagan Membrial Novice Hockey Tournament with a 2-1 win over Goderich Sunday night at the arena. Eventual blue side champs Wellesley -St. Clements put Seaforth on the consolation side with a 6-2 win in the first game of the day, but the locals blanked Milverton 2-0 in their second start to advance to the consolation final. Mark Wilbee was the goal - tender who only gave up one goal in Seaforth's final two games of the tournament. Matt Carnochan and Chessell scored for Seaforth in the Swim camp Kristy Cameron of Clinton and the Huron Hurricanes swim team finished third in the 100m breast -stroke quali- fying for the Junior Nationals in that event, and the 200m and 400m individual medleys at the recent Swim International at the Wayne Gretzky Sportsplex. This places her well up in the top 20 to 30 in her age class in the country. The Richmond Hill Fall Invitational was the Hurricanes' first Swim Ontario meet of the season. The Vanastra-hased team's first meet this year was a dual meet with Stratford, which the area girls won. The boys fell short. Hurricanes who finished in the top three in the latter meet were Laura Thomas, Brendon Purser, Valerie Otten, Ryan McKee, Scott McNichol, Aaron Datars, Mike' Durst and Amber Halfpenny of Se.
