High winds rmade short
w(lrk of a shed full of equip,
ment at Coleman Farms at
the south-wes't edge 'of
Kippen last Wednesday
morning.
, John Colc;tnan' was working
away inside the 50 by 80 -foot
shed. he and Les Coleman
put up this summer. whcn it
sailed away; he estimates at
about 92.30 a.m.
It didn't get very far in thc
gul•t, but now it's not much
,good for anything. 'John says
both big doors of thc tough
'fabric and steel -frame build-
ing were open when it went
too. The stet) posts 'support-
ing the shed were four feet
into the. • round, every 10
feet.
Neither John nor thc equip-
ment was much the worse for
wcar when it was over.
' But it makes a man wonder.
He guesses the gusts were
at least 90 kilometers an
hour at the time, in a steady;
hard wind that lasted most of
that morning.
About a half-hour earlier. at
about 9 a.m., a 31 -year-old
man was killed, and a 19 -
year -old injured, when a Karn
being built collapsed on the
work crew, in strong wind in'
Elgin County -at RR 3
Shedden, near'Iona.
Dead is Robert Silcox.
•E'nvironment Canada said
the strongest gust of wind
Wednesday at London airport

hour, ate IO a.m. A gust at 9
a.m. measured 67 km -h.
