LONG & short OF IT: Leafs did
it the hard way. Cruising along
with a 3-0 lead up until only 4:34
left in the first period, the Rangers
came ROARing back and Mark
Kirconnell's goal with but :13 sec-
onds left led to great jubilation
and much jumping about, forcing
game and Leafs into OT. There it
stayed for two more periods, until
McGrath's second settled it with
:36 seconds left, and the Leafs
laughed last.

Tracy Muir of Stratford, the
granddaughter of Jack and
Marie Muir of Jarvis Street in
Seaforth, hit for a healthy
average of .320 in her rookie
season playing fastball for
Division I Mercer State
College in Georgia.
The catcher and third base-
man also gained some good
experience in Kitchener last
weekend. Muir was on
junior squad from Ontario
that played touring Japanese
and Canadian Olympic fast -
ball teams.
