Gifts to be purchased for student confirmation Thc St. Columban Catholic Women's League held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 7 at 8pm in the rectory- meeting room. The meeting, chaired by president Anne Marie Maloney, opened with the league prayer. Reports were given by members of the executive. The annual St. Columhan C.W. L. June social will he held on Wednesday, June 12 at 8pm in the St. Columhan Church hall. The convener St. Columban by Cecilia Ryan 345-2028 for this event is Anne Murray. Th:;rc will be enter- tainment, a penny sale, bake sale, 50/50 draw and door prizes. Gifts will be purchased for 'the Grade 8 student graduates and for the young people receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 26. Mary Dewar of Yellowknife spent the week- end with her parents Tom and Maddie Murray and attended the Kuck and doe for Barb Flanagan and Brad Le Souder. Installation of both branch and auxiliary officers will be in the form of a joint installa- tion at the Clinton branch on Thursday. May 23 at 7:30pm. All those to he installed please attend this event. CHINCHILLA CHAMPS - Members of the 4-H Chinchilla Club held an auction recently at Walton Hall. The animals were judged and the champions are as follows, from left: John Story was presented with the Grand Show Champion award by Milton Dietz of Seaforth; J.C. Beacom received a Reserve Champion award from the Georgian Bay Club; Theresa Oliver was the 1-A Champion and Steven Haak was 1-B Champion. Bbth received rosettes. John Storey was show champion, selling to Charles Thomas for $130. J.C. Beacom was reserve champion, selling to Bob Norman for $107.50. Theresa Oliver had a IA animal. Steven Haak had a 1B animal. Our judge was Greg Rcidstra from Brampton. The Rcidstra ranch is thc largest in Ontario. Marie Salm, Godcrich, was auctioneer. Other members that showed were Debby Hoggart, Joe Oliver, Stephanie Oliver, Blair Trcwartha, Wes Beacom, Jackie Brak and Kendra Brigham. Everyone did a terrific job in caring and grooming their animals in preparation for thc show. Congratulations to everyone. There will he a bus from the Aylmer branch arriving at Branch 156 on June 1 at 11 am.
