Muir team third in provincials
The Seaforth Lawn Bowling
club has been most active this
past week also hosting two
tournaments. Sunday afternoon,
August 6, saw fifteen greens in
play for the annual Lorne Dale
Tournament. It was a fitting
tribute to Lorne's memory that
the tournament was held on
Homecoming Sunday. It also
gave bowlers an excellent view
of Seaforth's great parade.
Thelma Dale presented
plaques to first prize winners,
Rodger Buck and Beth
Campbell of the Sarnia Club.
Second place went to Bill
Batten and Helen Dewar of
London's Fairmont Club while
third place was Carmen and
Bert Mclnery of London's
Thistle Club. Fourth was Fred
and Betty Tilley of Seaforth
and fifth went to Erich Matzold
and Jean Lunn also of Seaforth.
Sixth was Len Borenham and
Marilyn Lancaster, St. Mary's.
Seventh was Ray Smith and
Barb Triebner of Exeter and
eighth was Roy and Jean Pyper
of Kitchener. Consolation went
to Peter and Gloria McFalls,
Exeter.
Saturday, August 12 Seaforth
Club had the honour of hosting
the Legion Provincials.
Twelve greens of trebles were
in play with the winning team
from Collingwood taking all
three games. Seaforth had three
teams entered and one rink
skipped by Jack Muir with Bob
Doig (vice) and Thelma
Coombs (lead) placing third for
the day.
Several ladies pairs were in
Stratford on Friday bowling in
the Bradshaw sponsored tour-
nament. Carol Carter and Betty
Tilley placed third while
Thelma Coombs and Ruth
Beutenmiller won the consola-
tion prize.
Bowling in Lucknow on
Sunday three Seaforth teams
took the top three prizes with
Lee Ryan and Carol Carter

ond, and Fred and Betty Tilley
third.
The Seaforth Lawn Bowling
Club is planning a special
evening on Friday, August 18.
All bowlers are asked to be
present or have your name in
by 7 p.m. sharp. The corn roast
is to follow the jitney.
August is a busy month with
the anniversary tournament on
August 23. Any donations for
the grocery boxes or prizes will
be greatly appreciated by com-
mittee members.

planning to entertain the
Clinton Club on Friday even-
ing, September 1 at 7 p.m. to a
