SONGS OF OUR PAST - Former Seaforth Mayor Franc Sills brought back some nostalgic memories when he sang at the Homecoming Variety Show. EMEMBER CKNX BARN DANCES? - Sharon Murray brought back the days of the CKNX n dances with her powerful renditions of old standards. She was highly praised by John Brent, who did the CKNX barn dances for years. MUSIC MEN - Bill and Ken Campbell put smiles on the faces of those who attended the I Iomecoming Variety Show on Saturday evening with their comic whistling act. TIM CUMMING PHOTO MUSICAL SISTERS - Madonna and Carol Ann McQuaid enthralled the full house at Saturday night's Homecoming Variety Show. Variety show displays many local talents Memories came back for the sold -out crowd at the commun- ity Variety Show held Saturday night. Johnny Brent, who emceed the CKNX barn dances on the road for 26 years, made the crowd feel like they had gone back to that nostalgic time. He introduced Sharon (Strong) Murray as someone who had auditioned at the age of . four and "still sings like a bird." She proceeded to give an excellent rendition of such songs as Love Letters in the Sand. The Delaney sisters, Lucille Panziera and Jayne Delaney - Walsh, sang old Irish favourites in a stirring fashion including a powerful version of 0 Danny Boy. Frank Sills showed he could still sing a tune with some nostalgic numbers. His grand- son, Don Sills teamed with Lindsay Devereaux for some well -performed contemporary tunes. It was a truly community event. One of the definite highlights of the evening was seeing the sizeable Homecoming Men's Chorus perform great barbershop -style numbers. The Huron Strings gave some fantastic fiddling to the crowd's delight. Not to be outdone, the tal- ented McQuaid sisters, in this case Madonna and Carol Ann, did some trick fiddling which had to be seen to be believed. As usual the quartet Carousel won the hearts of the crowd with their fantastic voices. The Cavan Steppers and Cavan Cloggers each gave energetic performances which got every toe -a -tapping. Jack Storey overcame the inevitable technical glitches TIM CUMMIN(i mom HURON STRINGS AND FRIENDS - The old-time fiddle sounds of the Huron Strings delighted the capacity crowd at the Homecoming Variety Show. SONGS OF IRELAND - The Delaney sisters, Lucille Panziera and Jayne Delaney -Walsh, performed Irish tunes to the delight of the Homecoming Variety Show audience. 4 with an Elvis -like performance of My Way. Master of Ceremonies Lee Paul, a true veteran, did his usual fine job of making the show move along quickly and with lots of fun and laughter. One of the funniest spots in the evening was also the most curious. It is impossible to describe Bili and Ken Campbell's routine accurately. There was certainly some- thing omathing for everybody at the Homecoming Variety Show to make Homecoming '95 even more special.
