It is a team sport, played on ice with full equipment required. It gives girls a chance to experience the joys of recreation, competition and friendship. Our teams travel to local towns to play their games and also attend some toumaments in larger centres. There always seems to be an abundance of dedicated parents and volunteers involved in this fast growing sport. Many of them coach, manage, officiate or hold a position on the executive. The ringette association tries to foster the highest standards of sports-manship and friendliness to all par-ticipants. If you would like to volunteer or you have a child interested in playing, contact the Recreation Office at 527-0882. DEVELOPMENT HOCKEY CLUB Junior hockey in Seaforth and the Ontario Hockey Association go back a long way together. The latest incarnation of this relationship is the Seaforth Centenaireswho now compete in the OHA Junior Development League. In the years prior to and following that championship season the Cents have had good years and bad -but one thing remains constant -the Centenaires have an unmatched record for player development. Two former Cents have gone on to play in the National Hockey League. Another has become an NHL official. Still others have gone on to star in Junior B, Junior A, semi-professional or university hockey in Canada and the United States. The Seaforth Centenaires Junior Development Hockey Club is made up of a volunteer executive and booster club. Managers, coaches and trainers are selected by this executive and reimbursed at discretion. The team welcomes volunteers for both large roles and small, everything from handling tickets at the door, to running the clock and singing the anthem to supervising the on -ice operation of the club.
