Local Learn to care with confidence Are you caring for someone at home? Do you sometimes feel frustrated, stressed, alone? Come out to the Huron County Health Unit's information session on Monday, Mar. 27, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., at the Wingham and Area Seniors Day Centre to hear about 'Caring with Confidence', an eight-week program that offers help and support. Nancy Walker, a health unit case manager, says many people opt to continue meeting after the eight-week program is over. There is no cost for the program. • "During the first session, we find out what type of information people want, like communicating with people who are suffering from dementia or have had a stroke, personal care issues and so on," Walker says. The program has been in place for two years, and she has participated in two program sessions. So far they've had primarily caregivers of the elderly, but anyone who is a caregiver is welcome, she says, adding that many of the issues and concerns would be similar. The Wingham and Area Seniors Day Centre is located at 350 Josephine St. To register, or for more information, call Walker, in Wingham, at (519) 357-2264 or Marguerite Thomas, in Brussels, at (519) 887-9331.
