Traditionally the yearly social for St. Patrick's and St. Columban Schools has been a dance but this year it was a camival theme. TIM CUMMING PHOTO ARM WRESTLING TIME - Ten -year-olds Marie Scherbarth and Ryan Gaffney, both of Mitchell, faced off in an arm wrestling match on Friday night. It was all in good fun at the Camival Fun Night held in the basement of St. Patrick's Church. About 70-75 families were in attendance. 11M CUMMING PHOTO POPCORN PALS - These three youngsters enjoyed popcorn and face painting at the Carnival Fun Night held in the basement of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church on Friday. They are Kyle Bennewies, 13, of Dublin; Mike Murray, 14, of Dublin and James Culligan, 13, of Mitchell. The Fun Night is the yearly social for St. Columban and St. Patrick's Schools but this is the first year the Camival idea has been tried. 4-H has anniversary The Ontario 4-11 . Council kicked off the 80th Anniversary of 4-H in Ontario during the organization's Annual Meeting at Geneva Park on Jan. 28-29, 1995. According to Anniversary Committee Chair, Louise Harris, the cornerstone of the 80th Anniversary year will be a special weekend of activities, ceremonies and other festivities for former and present 4-H participants and their families at the Ontario Agriculture Museum in Milton. "We're very excited about the Anniversary weekend," said Harris. Some the events scheduled for the Anniversary weekend include: a reunion day, photo contest, baseball tournament, rural Olympics, family barbecue and numerous displays by organ- izations from across Ontario. Eagles down first -place Jays in St. James bowling league BY GEORGE LOVE The Eagles downed the first place Jays 5-2 in the St. James Bowling League on Monday, Feb. 13 at Starlight Lanes. George Love led the Eagles with 302,227,208-737 and Karen Hoegy 203-514. Top bowlers for the Jays were Martin Andreassi 279-622; and Wilhelmina Poppe 227-540. The Loons kept pace with a 5-2 victory over the Emus. Leaders for the Loons were Bob Dinsmore 256,243,281-780 and Kevin 1, Johnston 252,264,264-780. High scores for the Emus were Mark Higenell 202-594 and Rob Simpson 214-592. The Partridges edged the Doves 4-3 in the third match -up of the night. Best games were recorded by Janice Morris 225,233-616, Arie Van Diepen 263-600 and Connie Marion 233-569. Team standings: Jays - 90; Loons - 78; Partridges - 78; Eagles - 77; Doves - 67; and Emus - 51. Chainsaw was removed Sometime between Dec. 25 and Dec. 31, 1994 somebody entered a garage attached to a residence on Concession 14, Hullett Township and removed a chainsaw and a quantity of tools. The chainsaw was a Poulan model 335, serial number 652590470. On Jan. 11 or Jan. 12 unknown persons entered a garage on Marlborough Si Exeter and removed a quantity of alcohol. Entry was gained through a window after a screen had been ripped open. The Seaforth Recreation Department will be offering March Break Holiday Happen- ings again this year, during the first week of March Break - March 13 to 17. This program is for children ages 5 to 12 years, and will be held at the Arena each day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Last week's Senior Shuffleboard winners after four games were: Women: J. The Seaforth Co-operative Children's Centre will also be hosting a 'Horne alone' safety course for children 6 to 12 years of age. This course will be held at the Egmondville United Church during the first week of March Break - March 13-17, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. each day. The Minor Ball Association would like to invite any interested person to their start up meeting which will be held on March 8, 1995 ,at 7:30-p me at• the arena. Club learns how to decorate clothes by Jessica Burgess Participants in the 4-H club called 'Wearable Art' are learn- ing unique ways to decorate their clothes. The first meeting was held at Joan Stewarts home, outside of Seaforth. After the members got to know each other, the officers were elected. Adrienne Peckitt is the president; Vice President is Danielle Van Den Hengal; Secretary is Michelle Stephen and Kendra Jewitt is the treas- urer. After watching a video about wearable art the youth leader Nancy Stewart explained the colour wheel and then the mem- bers painted their own colour wheel - starting with only three colours. After voting on their favorite projects, the first project was decided. Next meeting the mem- bers are going to paint and tie- dye T-shirts.
