PLAYING IT AS IT LAYS - So it wasn't a White Christmas. These local golfers still made the best of the unseasonably warm temperatures
at the Seaforth Golf and Country Club last Thursday by putting in 18 holes. Ken Doig of the local club says it hasn't been this warm at this
time of year for 12 seasons, since 1982. From left: Marc Robinet, John Patterson, Ken Doig, Bill Dale, Colin Young, Cam Doig, Jeff
Henderson.
McInally's three helps clip Hawks
The Seaforth Centenaires played
one of their better games this
season, stealing a couple of points
from the high -scoring Hawks with
a 6-4 win at Exeter last Tuesday
night.
Steve McInally's third goal of the
evening, into an empty net with 16
seconds left on the clock, settled
matters as Seaforth improved its
Ontario Hockey Association Junior
"D"evelopment League record to
11-13-1, and hung on to fifth in the
Western Division. Mclnally had a
four -point game, as did linemate
Jason Murray who potted a goal
and three assists before shattering
his wrist sliding into .the boards.
Council wants
smaller budget
Tuckersmith Township wants
the Seaforth Volunteer Fire
Department to reduce its capital
budget.
"We've got all our doors, a
new truck and equipment...the
taxpayers deserve a little bit of a
break in the capital budget," said
Deputy -Reeve Larry McGrath.
Council passed a motion to
send a letter to the fire board
saying that the capital budget
should be reduced to previous
levels. That portion had been
increased in recent years due to
the purchase of fire doors, equip-
ment and a new fire truck which
is awaiting arrival.

Tuckersmith Township says
their employees should not be
working for a member of her or
his family.
Council decided at the Dec. 20
meeting its hiring policy would
prohibit an employee from hav-
ing a supervisor who is a mem-
ber of their family.
The major injury required surgery
the following day and Murray may
be lost to the team for the
remainder of the season.

HOT STOVE LEAGUE....Bob
Zimmer has returned to the
Centenaires as an assistant coach,
replacing manager Gregor Campbell
who was filling in behind the bench
on an interim basis after the firing
of Greg MacDonald at the end of
November. Zimmer coached the
Cents from 1990-92 and has more
than 30 years coaching experience
at various levels of the game.
Manager Campbell says he feels
"Zim" will improve communication
between team and coaching staff,
and will add a "creative tension" to
the Seaforth juniors as they prepare
for the playoffs... Forwards Steve
Mclnally and Steve Geiger will
represent the Centenaires at next
months All-Star Game at Lucan,
Jan. 21...Veteran defenceman Scott
Wright has returned to the

protected by the Brussels Buns on
their Dec. 1 OHA cut-down list,
and is the younger brother of Ron,
who played for the Cents in 1990-
