CAR RAISES MONEY FOR BUS - This car helped raise $363 for the Central Huron Mobility Service
(CHuMS) mobility bus on Friday night. As part of the 'Christmas Car Caper' local people donated money
for the chance to guess how many seconds the car would run without oil and rad fluid. Bob Wright, of
Seaforth, won for guessing closest to the actual time, which was 52 seconds. The contest was
sponsored by Anderson Salvage and Camochan Electric and was held in Harpurhey.
Song dedicated to teacher
This has been a busy week for
teachers and students at Walton
Public School. On Tuesday the
grade fours and grade ones went to
Brussels to Huronlea where the
students put on a program for the
Seniors residing there. Gloria
Wilbee shared her gift of music and
sang dedicating the song to the
teachers and in the memory of
Shirley Lyon.
Thursday was the turkey lunch
that each classroom helped prepare.
Helen Crocker and June Johns
cooked a turkey each and made the
gravy. The classes made their own
desserts and carrot and celery
sticks. The grade fours peeled
potatoes and grade one got the
cranberries ready. The Kindergarten
kids made their own placemats and
Christmas crackers. With the help
of many volunteer moms the food
was all dished out and delivered to
each classroom and everyone shared
in a Christmas feast.
Principal -Tion Treemer was there
as well as G. Griannandria,
Superintendent, Gloria and George
Love, Caretakers of the school, to
partake of the meal. Later on in the
afternoon the Grade twos made
reindeer pine -cone Christmas tree
decorations and they have been
busy all week filling the mailbox in
their room with Christmas cards
and letters to each other.
Walton Public school said
goodbye to Kindergarten teacher
Brenda Vivian who is taking her
maternity leave. She promised to
visit as soon as her baby is born.
Her replacement is Lori Jewitt who
is looking forward to teaching at
Walton

the Walton School. The grade three
and four classes also said goodbye
to two brothers, Simon and Erich
Lenz. They and their family will be
moving to beautiful B.C. after
Christmas. They will be missed by
a lot of friends. Good luck and
don't forget to write.
The Walton Women's Institute
will be having their Christmas party
on Wednesday and it sounds like a
lot of fun. They will go to Ken
Shortreed's for a hayride through
the bush on his property and will
end up at his Chalet where hot
mulled cider and Christmas goodies
will be served. The women plan on
singing carols and maybe enjoy a
few games. -
Don and Marilyn McDonald just
got back from a very restful and
relaxing holiday on Sanibel Isle,
Florida. The island is just outside of
Ft. Myers. This holiday was and
early Christmas present from their
grandchildren. Marilyn said that the
beach is one of the four most
famous beaches in the world for
collecting sea shells. She said that
every morning around 7a.m. people
would be out walking the beaches
gathering shells. Welcome home as
Marilyn put it, `back to reality.'
Rev. Randy Banks greeted
worshippers at Duff's United
Church Dec. 18, and handed out his
Christmas letter. A trio made up of
Phyllis Mitchell (violin), Glenda
Carter (organ) and Margery Huether
(piano) treated the congregation to
their playing of Christmas Carols
while they waited for the service to
start. While singing `Light one
Candle', the children made up the
wreath and Cassandra Banks,
Crystal Gibbons, Jennifer McClure
and James Durrell stood up to be
candles. Sharon Brown and
daughter Becky read the Advent
Liturgy and candle #4 was lit.
Crystal Gibbons placed the felt
flame on the Advent banner. Rev.
Banks reminded people that the
Christmas day service is at 10 a.m.
in Walton. The New Year's service
will be in Bluevale at 10:30.
