The Huron Expositor, 1994-12-14, Page 14FAST AND FURIOUS ACTION Seaforth District High School hosted the Huron against Perth girls'
basketball all-star games last Thursday night. Huron won the senior game, but lost the junior.
Perth, Huron stars
split b -ball games
Carly Price of Seaforth District
High School was the second leading
scorer for the winners as the Huron
senior girls basketball all-stars
defeated their counterparts from
Perth 82-66 at SDHS Thursday
night. Myra Steinstra of. Clinton
Central Huron was the big gun with
21 points for the winners, and was
also named the exhibition game's
most valuable player, but Price
popped 11.
Sarah Johnston and Lori Perrie,
also both of SDHS, contributed
eight and six points respectively.
Hat tricks
galore in
junior Ringette
BY CAITLIN FERGUSON
On Sunday, Dec. 4 the Seaforth
Junior 'C' team managed to tie 6-6
with St. Mary's. During the game
both Michele Gallagher and Melissa
Finlayson had hat -tricks. Janette
Wood, Caitlin Ferguson, Joanne
Dale and Karen Delvecchio all
contributed to the game with some
assists. Some great playing from
Shannon Austin, Kathy Lavis,
Kendall Schenck, Amy Siemon, and
Kelly Murray worked hard on
defence! Great goal -tending from
Jill Dolmage.
Cents pick up points but pay price
The Seaforth Centenaires had a
productive week, earning twice as
many points than they did the enure
month of November, but paid a
hefty price as three more regulars
were added to their lengthening list
of injured on the weekend.
The Cents vaulted past the
Mitchell Hawks into fifth place in
the Western Division Ontario
Hockey Association's Junior
"D"evelopment League with 4-3
road wins over both Mt. Brydges
and Mitchell, but let one get away
from them in their only home start
Friday night; a 5-4 loss to the
second -place Lambeth Lancers.
Rookie defenceman Brent Hulley
separated a shoulder at Mt. Brydges
Saturday night, and both Todd
Papplc (hand) and Jason Murray
(back) missed the game because of
weekend injuries leaving the
Seaforth juniors with, among other
headaches, five defencemen out of
the lineup. They will be stocking up
on ice and trainer's tape for Friday
night's final pre -Christmas. home

Wood nets beautiful broomball goal
game against the fourth -place
Belmont Bombers, the team they
would meet in the opening round of
the playoffs if they were to get
underway with the shape of the
standings today. Next Tuesday the
Cents are at Exeter for an 8:30 p.m.
game against those third-place
Hawks.
Both teams played extremely
short-staffed at Mt. Brydges, where
Josh Little bagged a pair of goals to
lead the Seaforth juniors. The
Centenaires led 4-1 going into -the
LADIES BROOMBALL
Dec. 7, 1994
WINTHROP 4 - PERTH 1
Perths Juvenile Jill Wood scores
a fantastic goal with only 33
seconds remaining in the game, a
quick pass from Lori Lonsbary.
Wow! Tammy Nash goes all out for
the 'Hat Trick' for goals and one to
spare. Her helpers were Christa
Leonhardt, Diane Anderson, Pam
Dale and Sandra Mclnally. D.A.
hope you didn't need a ride home
after your game, if so just 'Norm' a
call.
PARR LINE 2 - SOCIALITES 0
Socialites seemed to have plenty
of goalies as Parr Line Ladies keep
drilling the ball to the net. Just ask
Betty "Boops" how she likes being
a goalie as she stops a blasting
shot. Parr Line however did manage
to squeeze a couple of goals by
J.H.H. First goal by Bonnie
O'Rielly and second goal by old
smoothie Heidi Elliott, assistance
from Frem and Beverly. "Koss" get
up, get up off the ice, Hey! don't
let Norm tell you what to do
'chuckle'
PARR LINE 0 - DUMPERS 3
Parr Line seemed to have plenty
of get up and go but had a problem
on hitting the net to score a goal.
Dumpers skipped a head, with goals
scored by 'Chop' with a back flip
and into the net the ball goes. Next
is 'Bretsky' with a highlight goal
and not for behind is 'Lucky' 13
Mr. Dale. There only helper was
Their Mr. Cairns.

WINTHROP 4 - KNIGHTS 1
Winthrop men did quite well on
the goal scoring even though
penalties seemed to be piling up -
right Dan Mc. Winthrops goals
were scored by Steve Knight, Neil
Mitchell, wee Blaine Marks and
Dan McNichol, direct passes by
Mike Thomas, Bruce Pearn, Warren
Knight and Scott Leonhardt. Its
O.K. Knights theres always next
week!
EASY RIDERS 10 - RAIDERS 0
Raiders have lots of spunk, lots of
chussel and plenty of potential but
never seems to contribute on true
goal scoring the Easy Riders chaulk
up goal after goals by Lawrence
Vink and Darrel Eckert to a hat
trick each. Single too Jess
Hoelscher, Rob McGregor, Jeff
Allen.. Slim Jim "Bob" Butson. A
little help from Jerry Zwep, Ed Van
Miltenburg, Steve Eckert Jr., and
chipper Greg McPherson. The
Raiders, have lots of young and
talented Broomball players which
can be beneficial to the Raiders
Broomball team.
ROYALS 0 - GRADS 3
The Grads did not walk all over
the Royals as you can tell by the
low margin score. The Royals were
digging but no goals were achieved.
The Grads Al Wynja was short one
goal for a hat trick, but Chris Goris
was just glad to see his single goal.
The rest of the heros on Grads team
was Dana Bean, Raymond Rerstom
and Tony Van Den Huevel. (The
Royals goalie was a little
"undercover during this game.)

third period but the Bulldogs then
tallied twice on the powerplay with
just more than seven minutes left to
make a game of it, and leading to
tachycardia on the Seaforth bench.
Jason Dunseith and Brandon
Corriveau also scored for the Cents,
and Tim Swan earned his first
victory between the pipes since Oct.

Friday night at Seaforth the result
swung on a powerplay that
seriously backfired for the
Centenaires late in the second

Watson scored twice in 21 seconds
for the short-handed Lancers, all of

The temptation to run away to the big city, fishing for
bargains is a big one - But the smart shopper will stay at
home.
Too few of us have learned that the best things are right
here at home. Dollars spent locally turn over several
times providing the necessary economic flow to support
healthy communities
The next time you feel the urge to run to the big city,
remember the best shopping is right here at home. You'll
save time, money and best of all, you'll support the local
people that provide the community services we all enjoy.
