Shinen's Clothing set up shop at Maplewood where residents were able to choose their winter ward- robe. The convenience of shopping at home is greatly appreciated. Residents watched the fall fair parade in the comfort of Bill McLaughlin's showroom. Everyone enjoyed watching the excitement of the youngsters who took part. Thanksgiving was celebrated with a traditional turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Residents enjoyed the musical entertainment of the 'Notes of Yesteryear', a group which always lifts the spirits of everyone. The church services conducted by Pastor Lucas, Father Hardy and Rev. Horst were greatly appreciated by everyone. Bill Gibson also visited Maplewood to entertain residents with his piano tunes. Hallowe'en was celebrated with the 'Huron Strings'. The costumes that appeared were hilarious! We have alot of good sports amongst US. A surprise shower was held in honour of Cheryl Ann Storey where residents wished her a long and happy married life. The meeting opened by all sing- ing O'Canada with Mildred Traviss accompanying on the piano. They then repeated The Senior's Prayer in unison. Betty Hulley gave a very appropriate reading written by a Seaforth student, Tanya Brown, entitled 'We must remember'. The minutes of the last meeting were read. Ida Diehl moved and Betty Hulley seconded that they be adopted as read. The Treasurer gave her report. Ariel Wood moved, and Marjorie Rock seconded, that they be adopted as read. Ariel Wood also gave an appropriate reading pertaining to Nov. 11. Marjorie Rock Volunteered to lay a wreath on the cenotaph, donated by The Happy Citizen's Club. Helen McKenzie brought to everyone's attention how important it is to have a Power of Attorney appointed to look after an individual's affairs if we become unable to do so.
