St. Columban
The October meeting of the St.
Columban Catholic Women's
League (CWL) was held on Tues-
day, Oct. 4 in the rectory meeting
room.
The meeting opened with the
league prayer followed by minutes
of the last meeting, treasurer's
report and correspondence. Upcom-
ing events included an invitation to
St. Patrick's, Dublin CWL bazaar
on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. in
the church hall. Social Committee
and CWL invite everyone for bacon
on a bun after the 9:30 a.m. Mass
on Sunday, Oct. 16. A petition
prohibiting adult entertainment
parlours, which parishioners signed
on the last two weekends, will be
sent to the Legislative Assembly of
Ontario. The annual Harvest Dance
will be on Nov. 12 in the
Brodhagen Community Centre Hall.
Irene Kelly reported on the regional
meeting she attended recently in
Seaforth. Father Hardy spoke to the
women about taking over the
responsibilit i.of ushers on the third
Sunday of each month. The meeting
closed with prayer.
A Mass of Thanksgiving was held
on Thursday, Oct. 6 at St.
Columban Catholic Church, Father
J. Hardy, celebrant. The staff and
children from St. Columban School

attended. Gifts of canned goods and
non-perishable foods were brought
up by the children and placed in
front of the decorated altar, which
will be donated to the St. Vincent
De Paul Society in Goderich to be
distributed to the needy. Sharon
Murray was in charge of the decor-
ating.
Jack and Margaret Cronin of
Wetaskiwin, Alberta, former resi-
dents of this area, are visiting with
Alphonse and Annie Cronin and
their many relatives. Mary
O'Connor and Ann Benninger are
Jack's sisters and Alphonse Cronin
is his brother.
With Cecilia Ryan on Sunday for
Thanksgiving dinner were J.D. and
Marg MacRae, Jenny and Ian of
London; Laura Ward, Jim and Pat
Subject, Carrie, Ryan, Jeff and
Nathan and Shannon and Paul
Losse, all of Kitchener; Gerry and
Karen Ryan, Jason a Amanda and
Jeremy Ryan of Rig 1, Dublin;
Louise Ryan and Brett Bailey of
Cambridge and Mary Jo and John
Nelson of Lucknow.

were heading, north of Dublin they
had never been, they did not know
there was another way. Too bad it's
such a big country! They did find
their way, and a delicious lunch
was enjoyed by all. After dinner,
back to Dublin for the afternoon of
gift exchange and reminiscing. A
light snack before parting was
served by Eileen and co -hostess,
Joyce. Cousins present were Marie
Sutherland, Woodstook, Anne
Francis, Mitchell, Donna Gatenby,
Kitchener, Beth McEwin, Joyce
McKay and Anna O'Donnell,
Stratford. Donna Gatenby,
Kitchener, will be 95 Spring
Hostess.
Don and Eileen MacRae and their
sister, Rita Gooding, London were
with Don's daughter, Nora Anne
and son Trevor, London, for an
early Thanksgiving dinner on
Sunday, October 2.
Congratulations go to John and
Joyce Devereaux on the arrival of
Deanna Nicole, born on Sept. 18 -
a new sister for Teni Lyn and
Kristen. Congratulations also to
happy Grandparents - Tom and
Eileen Sloan and Jim and Anne
Devereaux.
Congratulations to Ken Hak and
Delph,ne Ruetz who were united in
marriage on Oct. 1 at St. Aloysius
Roman Catholic Church in
Kitchener. Congratulations also to
the parents, Harry and Catherine
Hak and Francis and Helene Ruetz.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Towtialiip$(
hold a public meeting on Tuesday, November 1, 1994 at 8: .tAf.
Tuckersmith Township Council Chambers, Vanastra, to consider a proposed zoi11ng
amendment under Section 34 of the Planning Act.
The zoning amendment is a general update of the Tuckersmith Township Zohtng By -taw..
including several housekeeping and other changes as follows: '
• ft
1. - a provision for the extension of zoning in certain zones for minor lot enlargement
where the severed lands merge on title with the abutting lands;
2. - a provision to require setbacks from unopened or unassumed roads; -
3. - a provision to allow existing deficiencies (e.g. setbacks) to continue as legal non-
complying after a rezoning or severance; this provision does not apply to panting;
"'4:'= a provision to recognize that all buildings established prior to this by -law -are deemed to
comply with this by-law
5. - to allow for the closing in of porches that extend 1.5 metres into the front yard as long
as they are further than I metre from any lot line
6.- a provision to permit minor encroachments in yards where a building was believed to be
in compliance with the by-law but subsequently shown by survey not to comply;
7. - standardized provisions for accessory buildings including a maximum height of 5.5
metres for accessory buildings in residential zones;
8. - a provision to prohibit the keeping of livestock, poultry, reptiles. stinging insects or
exotic animals which are dangerous to human health or create a noise nuisance in all
urban zones
9. - a provision to allow building on more than one lot where two or more Tots arc required
to comply with the lot area or other requirements of the by-law;
10.- deletion of the requirement that home occupations and home industries he accessory to
agriculture in the AGI and AG2 zones;
I I.- a provision to recognize minimum lot areas for new agricultural Tots between 18 and
38 ha.
12. - a provision to permit attached garages in the VRI zone at a I metre setback. a 3 metre
setback must be maintained between the residential sides of abutting residences
13. - this provision all residential accessory building provisions to one section
14.- deletion of the reduced lot provisions for lots with public water in recognition of the
larger lot sizes required for septic systems, regardless of the source of water;
15.- recognition of lot depth for existing undeveloped lots in the VRI zone;
16. - a provision to permit existing residences in a Developmental zone to expand the
residential building
17. addition of a special developmental zone to permit golf course related uses on a
property on Key Map 3B
18. - addition of the (-h)Holding zone provisions

The above List is a brief summary of the changes in the proposed by-law. Complete copies
of the by-law are available from the Township Clerk.
As a text amendment to the comprehensive zoning by-law. this by-law affects all lands
within the Township of Tuckersmith. In addition, Key Maps showing the location of the
map zone changes are shown below and are attached to the complete by-law which is
available from the Township Clerk.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/ori make written or verbal
representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed amendment.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION and complete copies of the proposed zoning
amendment are available during regular office hours at the Township Clerk's office in
Vanastra.
